This would be if they lost to Oregon & Penn State (or some other combo of 2 games), finished 10-2 at that point and didn't make it in.

No, all this talk about how loaded the team is...win a natty and he's safe, lose the championship game and he's safe but on notice, and fail to win any playoff games and I think he is forced out.
 
I hate to be that guy. Okay, say he loses to Michigan and some other team, is not in the B1G championship, and barely misses the playoff. Name the coach that the Buckeyes go after that can give that team 56-8 record.

Nick Saban. And Ryan Day is the epitome of "born on third base". Handed the keys to a loaded team and recruiting powerhouse and told not to fuck it up. He then proceeds to get trucked by his rival and has lost 2/3 of his bowl games.
