Time to Fire Ryan Day

Cooper, or his staff could recruit. Eddie George, Galloway, Stringer, Katzenmoyer, LeCharles Bentle, Mike Doss, Kenny Peterson just to name a few

Doss was a Cooper recruit but he did all his work under Tress.

Yes...Cooper was a good recruiter. Poor in game coach. I don't put Day on that level at this point. Cooper would go out and lose to fucking South Carolina with this team.

Day certainly isn't Urban Meyer but imo Tressel is overrated in hindsight. He was backed with strong defenses and he had a horseshoe up his ass in 2002. If we are bitching about offense Day wipes his ass with the Tressel era offenses.

not gonna lie, I've been rather happy you guys haven't had a superstar lineman since Young. Having a stud DL can really have an impact

With a different scheme I think you'd have seen more out of JT and Sawyer but I can't really argue with the overall results. JT especially is probably going to do very well. Probably in a 3 4 though. Sawyer is def not a Bosa/Young but he's very good.

Sawyer and JTT are really good, but they're not really disruptive in the vein of the Bosas/Young. Not a knock on them either, those dudes were just freaks. I could see Hall exploding next year though

I like me some Eichenberg but they've just not had an impactful LB in like 8 years. The Borland years were criminally bad. Someone should have kneecapped him just to keep them from inexplicably starting him.

But even DBS are good not great. They don't have a lockdown guy even though I like Burke. The scheme was effective in contain but all their talent at DL is kinda wasted at times.
OSU's biggest problem is -- they had years and years and years of lock down CB's and game changers at the DE position. Lattimore, Okudah, Denzel Ward, Arnette, Eli Apple, etc. Nick Bosa, Joey Bosa, Chase Young.

OSU simply doesn't have anyone on defense you have to specifically game plan for on the DL or someone in the secondary you have to avoid at all cost.

I agree.

so this brings us full circle to players making plays and not everything being the coaches fault.

The Browns offense today is a coaching shit show. OSU yesterday doesn't strike me that way.

Yeah -- you can't put it all on coaches, but a change definitely helps. Look at Pittsburgh today -- they were absolutely anemic offensively. They fire their OC and they put up 400 yards on offense today.

Yes. Don't put your chips on a statue (Mccord) when you've had dual threat qbs for 18 years except for Boeckman (dumpster fire) and half of the probation year (Fickell deserves kicked in the dick for Bauserman playing more than 2 games over Braxton Miller)

I get Stroud didn't use his legs enough (and yes that's on Day the kid ran for 40 yards today in an NFL game) but he was a threat.

Day has to take a long look at starting a true frosh/ a redshirt frosh or bringing in a grad transfer. You're breaking in a whole new starting receiving core next year. You don't have the experience level there to bail out a mediocre qb. Mccord ain't it. And he could put himself in hot water rolling with him again.

I thought Carnell Tate showed some promise, but yeah those two and Stover are going to be very tough to replace. Is there any indication on whether Henderson is declaring or not?

Henderson will go. The dude has been a walking Injury Management since his freshman season. He's slated top 60. That's good for a RB. Tate does look good. And receiver isn't a real concern overall it's just more that Mccord is so inconsistent and an absolute non factor running the ball it makes the margin for error even harder on the passing game.

This is an enormous offseason for Day. Unless he gets absolute chaos and they somehow luck into the playoffs and win a game (highly highly highly unlikely)

Also. Where's our boy @Wamu

Jim Harbaugh has just obliterated him into non-existence around here.

Henderson is definitely gone, and I'm glad for him. I hope he can stay healthy in the pros. I'm happy next year rolling with Hayden, Peoples, and even Miyan might be back. WR is going to be fine as I'm assuming Fleming will be back to go with Tate, Innis, Rogers, Ballard, and the incoming freshmen. I'd very much like to see Fryar slide over to RG to replace Jones and put Monty at RT. Simmons improved a lot and should be good at LT, and I'm not sure Jackson is going to leave. I genuinely don't know what to think about McCord though.

If Day is honest with himself he's wasting everyone's time with McCord.

It's very possible, but who else is he gonna go with? I don't see anyone in the portal that's any kind of upgrade. I suppose we could have a 4-man QB battle this offseason and likely see 2 of them transfer. It's hard to go against Day's track record of QB development - maybe we just need a black QB again?

Sadly McCord is the best he has. They lost one QB when Ewers went to TX. McCord could get better in his 2nd year but only time will tell.

I look at what McCarthy did from his second to third year and it's reason for optimism. McCord was largely better this year than JJ was in 2022, and he's still going to be surrounded with high end weapons. The OL is my concern, but we should return most of it and the portal is always open.

I think the Oline played a big part in McCord being a one look QB. He knew he was gonna get smashed if he didnt get rid of the ball fast.

doesn't have to be black just moderately agile. He is a non factor out of the pocket.

Ewers would've been fine if he wasn't a giant pussy and left OSU because he couldn't hack it.
