Pac12 expansion - looking to add 4 teams

UNLV is possible in the greatest position in college football realignment history.

That is an egregiously false statement.

Notre Dame is undoubtedly in the greatest position in college football realignment history as they can stay independent, pick whichever conference they choose should they decide to join one or can get a conference to bend over backward for their other sports and allow football to be independent.

Texas and Oklahoma were pretty much second in that could have picked the B12, PAC 12, SEC or B1G at any point.

UNLV is lucky they are potentially getting the opportunity to upgrade their conference which wouldn't have been available if the PAC hadn't folded.

i like it! Stick to schools out west.. South Florida..memphis..tulane?? No..

I thought Texas was as far East as they should go

They won't make enough to afford to send teams consistently across the country it would be financial suicide. Not to mention that no one knows what the leadership of the new PAC is going to be or what the revenue is actually going to be. My guess this is just a slight upgrade to the current MWC.

just on name alone it will be an upgrade.. think casual people have heard PAC more than mountain west

People that actually go to and watch these games will know. That is what matters.

Notre Dame, Texas and Oklahoma were nowhere near in the position that UNLV is in. UNLV is going to get paid to stay in MWC and now has leverage to be paid to get into the PAC 12. Is it as much money tv revenue as the other 3, no but the B1G isn’t going to pay ND to join nor did the SEC pay for Texas and Oklahoma to join. There isn’t a disputable fact that they are in the greatest position in realignment history.

Which was the plan until Tulane and Memphis contacted the advisors for the conference. USF was never an option no matter how many times they try to say they were

I mean but somehow cusa which makes less can send new mexico state and utep to fiu liberty and soon delaware? And vice versa

The PAC’s attempt to rebuild the conference in phases rather than one full swing backfired. It gave those in the AAC time to talk to the commissioner. Time creates hesitancy.

And now with the money coming in from the PAC, the MWC commissioner may be able to throw money at UNLV, Utah State, and Air Force to convince them to stay.

This sucks for the PAC.

those don't count.. it's the people who tune in on tv that count
They couldn’t survive on 15 million a year to send every sport damn near cross the country for damn near every road conference game. And that 15 million a year was best case scenario, not to mention how much they’d be in the hole from the buyout.

The new PAC needs to stay regional. I’m still not understanding why UNLV didn’t leave before???

So Utah State to the PAC now with UNLV considering the move as well.

And FIU. We only survive because schools like Nebraska and A&M will pay us to play at their place. If we didn't take money games we'd be screwed!

And we're pretty much screwed geographically anyway. We're only close geographically to Zona, Az State, UNM, and Texas Tech. Other than that...............

It is just a wonderful time in Mr. Roger's neighborhood.
PAC/MWC feud over "poaching" fee.
I thought, at the time of the other moves out of the PAC, that the best course of action would have been for Wazzu and OSU to merge with the MWC, but rename it the Pac-12, since they retained the rights to the marketing and logos and everything. But I'm not sure how that would have worked once you get TV Lawyers involved.

Basically, they are doing a version of exactly what you outlined but they found a way to do it while being able to kick out some teams that didn't hold as much value.
