Nebraska Cornhuskers The Official 10000 posts for a Husker Conference Championship

Now to the game, as I mentioned above, we just don't have game changers, we don't have guys winning one on one battles. You saw it on both sides of the ball. Our WRs are atrocious at blocking which doesn't allow anyone to break a big play. They aren't great at getting open either or Dylan isn't risking the throw to give them a chance to make a play.

On O, just can never get the running game going which just really kills play action. Oline just so inconsistent and some of that on our OC, just doesn't seem to be very creative in the run game. Makes some really bad calls in some situations putting us behind the sticks. Fidone was the only bright spot, but Dylan trying to feed him caused INT. Refs didn't help a lot, let a ton go on the outside, announcer even said it when we were driving for a score there in the 4th. Probably was happening all game but it's where we never adjust.

Our DBs play too far off, so when refs letting a lot go, our DBs aren't pressuring and too many easy throws. They had a couple of big plays and their QB carved us up. RPO really hurt, always thought we were suspectable to that style. Thought the refs gave them a little too much leeway on OL down the field and saw several bear hugs out there that not really sure how you don't call. Just not sure why Tony didn't adjust this week, he made some nice adjustments against Rutgers but just seemed odd what we were seeing. Maybe he isn't ready to be a HC.

ST, could have tried some FGs. Had points early which might have helped, didn't mind not kicking late but you aren't going to find improvement without trying. Not sure what happened on that kickoff, why field it? Why not call for fair catch?

OC and WR coach need to go. Might replace OL too, not sure if that's crappy run play calls or bad coaching.

I feel like the WRs and DBs need to just line up and practice blocking, routes, tight coverage all week. Let Dylan try and gain some confidence on throwing deep to guys in one on one coverage. Haven't seen any deep shots recently.

Rhule's stuck between a rock and a hard place with the O-line. They fire Donovan then Dylan likely hits the transfer portal.

I'd certainly replace the special teams coordinator.
They put Nebraska in difficult positions far too often.

That being said... After what 13 years, Nebraska's still not ready for Big 10 physical play.

Not at all. I had my vCash on Indiana.

I'll have to go look, but Nebraska typically comes off bye weeks flat like they haven't spent a damn minute practicing (football) or watching actual (football) game film of themselves or of their upcoming opponent.

Once I saw they'd be wearing 'all-whites' on top of that, I knew it was as good as a :lock1:
You had me at all whites…..

Dylan is not a running QB & many of the run & pass plays are based off the QB read. Why is Satt even running those as Dylan isn’t a threat and defenses know it. Final stretch 0-5 or 1-4?

I'd posted this on the CFB forum after the Rutgers game.
I think they beat UCLA in Lincoln.
Iowa is a question mark. It's usually a one score game with Iowa coming out on top tho.

This Nebraska team still doesn't know how to win. Maybe they got it so good in Lincoln, they don't care to win? Year in and year out the team doesn't show any improvement as the season goes along.

That being said if they get bowl eligible against UCLA, I think they cash it in the last three games. So the 1-4 finish.

Nebraska finishes the season (3-3) at best. More likely (2-4) or even (1-5) tho.

Rhule's 2nd seasons at Temple and Baylor were certainly improvements over his 1st seasons, but the big leaps came in year three at those programs.

Rhule finished his 2nd season at Temple in 2014 (2-5)
Rhule finished his 2nd season at Baylor in 2018 (2-4)

I expect similar in his 2nd season at Nebraska.

@ Indiana: L
@ Ohio St: L
UCLA: W
@USC: L
Wisconsin: L
@ Iowa: ?

Getting Nebraska bowl eligible in year two (i.e. 6 or 7 wins) would be an improvement over year one and I'll take it for momentum's sake going into 2025.

to be fair, this schedule is suddenly looking considerably tougher than it did coming into the season. Was anyone expecting Illinois to be 6-1, or Indiana to be sitting at 7-0? Wisconsin's looking better after a rough start to the season, though we'll see what they look like against a team with a pulse this week (Penn State). That Colorado win is starting to look better at least

I think you'll beat UCLA and take at least 1/3 of the Wisky/USC/Iowa games.

Ramir Johnson out for Ohio State game with concussion protocol.

Ugh, just so disappointed in the offense. Can we hire someone else please? Play calling is just atrocious, plays to be had, but I swear Satt has no clue how to setup plays for later. That screen on the final drive was just stupid, but if he had designed a play that looked like that screen but then did something else. I always had issues with our old OCs but you could always see something getting setup like that. Seemed like we had 1 player mess up on every play. Either an OL or Wr with a shitty block, or a RB that runs into the tackles instead of where the blocking is, a WR not getting open, or Dylan with a crap throw. Left 2 TDs out there in the 3Q, kick FGs and maybe we win?

D was solid. Thought OSU gave up on the run too early and their Left tackle kept getting smoked.

Refs sucked like always, particularly bad on the OPI and not calling holding. I'd rather see them make several of those calls against each team them letting some of what they did go.

ST was pretty good, couple early mistakes and thought our returner should have caught a few punts that rolled further and hurt us on field position, but can't complain about going 3/3 on FG with a 50+ yarder.

I'm not into moral victories, but hopefully can come out like that the remaining 4 games. No more laying eggs like at Indiana.

Has anyone checked in on Satterfield. He hasn’t been able to call a screen all day today.
