Thought about getting Tix to this game a while back when i knew it was gonna be on a Friday night, but my brother and sister in law are coming to town, so I passed. I'll be curious to see what the atmosphere is like. MD games aren't what they used to be.

Really?? I feel like they still have a pretty good home crowd.

It’ll be a very interesting game. And curious if MD tries a zone.

Probably comes down to which blahh shooting team hits 3s. I like their odds better feeding off a rowdy Friday crowd.

I've been to games at Cole and the Xfinity Center and it's not even close IMO. Some of that could be because when I was going to watch them at Cole it was when they had Dixon, Blake, Baxter etc. and were a top 10 team for the most part. But I went to a UVA/MD game, a good UVA team and a rival, and the atmosphere just wasn't the same. The fanbase just seems overall apathetic. I'll be interested to see what it's like for this game. I just remember watching them when they played #1 Purdue last year and there was nothing. Lol.

As for the game. I think it will be a good game. MD's looking better this year, at least thus far.

Dang that's interesting. ROthstein is always still hyping it up but we all know by now that guy is 90% shtick so never credible. Ill be very interested for the environment too. First true road game is always tough. No matter the team or coach Marquette has always struggled in this. Last year at Illinois was the rarity and it took about as vet/continuity filled team possible.

It will be an interesting game. Queen and Reese will be tough. But so far(vs cupcakes of course) it kinda seems like they overlap each other so much that really only 1 eats(pts and boards) at a time. Also not sure how in a non zone they do having to guard Jop and Gold(even if they go 2/19 again) at the perimeter all game.

But mostly Friday is the true test on MU as whole. Win or lose should learn a lot. The last two games especially last night were maddening. But I'm also like 75% sure some of it was by design to work on things vs cupcakes. All 3 of our games we have went long stretches of Kam not even trying to shoot. Yesterday he took 2 shots all 2nd half. He's constantly looking for Gold on pick n pops as if its by design to get him going.

Shaka called like no TOs yesterday. Had them attack the zone on their own. Just a lot of little things I don't think(at least I hope) we do vs a good team. So we will see.

No Hopkins hurts forsure.

But also no proven scorers at this level. No proven returning players. And English while I don't think he's a bad coach, also hasn't really proven anything himself.

It's tough when you don't really have anything you can forsure count on.

I still think the potential is there where they do the classic Providence and start BE play like 3 or 4-1 or some shit tho.

Is there a timeline for Hopkins to return? He's obviously a huge part of what they'll be able to do.

I don't think anything specific but I kept hearing the hope was probably the Bahamas. So soon. Feast week.

Also will be interesting to see how he is when he comes back. If the knee is still bothering him he has a type of game that really needs mobility
 
Well, that half did nothing to help me out

On one hand, we just played an entire half of basketball where we had 3 TOs and took maybe, maybe 2 shots I didn't like.

On the other hand we have 30 pts and are shooting like 33%.

You can run an offense that gets wide open 3s and lay ups all you want, but at some point you have to make them or you just are what you are.
 


Also, this was horrendous. Gave Kam his 2nd foul with 10 min left in 1st half.

Still blame ourselves for missing shot after shot after shot. But shit like this is just ridiculous

Has this game on the 2nd screen. This will age really well. A solid Q1 win for sure. What a great schedule Marquette has in the OOC. I count 6 potential Q1 games. Just a huge and fantastic game against Purdue up next.

Yup that’s what i love about shaka. He schedules like a top 10 team. He’s not about trying to cook the books by pounding trash.

Giving Dayton a home game was insanely ballsy.

inside carolina is horrible. there was an old poster named "TrustinRoy". posters from Pack Pride, Devils Den and Deacon Sports used to call him "Thrust in Roy" lmao

fwiw, i've always found Duke's message boards to have reasonable takes.

Ha that's also the funny thing, I check that Uconn board' cause they are very reasonable usually and active. So I like to see what they say about the league as a whole as the Kings of it.

But that comment was just wow
