Big East Basketball

Georgetown

Wooooooooooooof

They look bad, but I think ND might be the 3rd or 4th best team in the ACC. Not that that means all that much. After UNC and Duke it's pretty bleak.

I've been to games at Cole and the Xfinity Center and it's not even close IMO. Some of that could be because when I was going to watch them at Cole it was when they had Dixon, Blake, Baxter etc. and were a top 10 team for the most part. But I went to a UVA/MD game, a good UVA team and a rival, and the atmosphere just wasn't the same. The fanbase just seems overall apathetic. I'll be interested to see what it's like for this game. I just remember watching them when they played #1 Purdue last year and there was nothing. Lol.

As for the game. I think it will be a good game. MD's looking better this year, at least thus far.

I can't speak for football but Maryland basketball has never recovered from moving from the ACC.

Sometimes I forget and think they are still in the ACC.

It just wasn't a great move for them.

that's a hilarious chant

Pitino should have started the chant

Their finances were in just awful shape. They needed the money in the worst way. Apathy with the fan base has set in big time. I don't think they'll ever get back to what they were in the 80's and late 90's and early 2000's. They have no rival and never will. Duke, UNC, and UVA were all great games back in the day.

I don't think Willard is the guy either.

Kind of lucked out by getting that job.

Yeah, he's just decent IMO. He didn't start having good years in the Big East until UConn and UL left.

I think the Maryland crowd was very very strong on Friday night.

As far as how good that team actually is, probably meh. Should compete decent enough in the wide open blah big 10 tho.

And agreed on Willard. He's fine. But he's nothing special. Kinda that no mans land coach. Can recruit solid talent but not amazing. And also not good enough to get more out of less or have a real identity year to year.

But also far from a disaster

1-1 and against the Ivy League baby.

Put the hurt on those Quakers...

I can't believe this Purdue team beat Alabama. They can't even get get the ball past the 3 point line

Marquette needs a 2nd person who they can rely on to score

Kam is the best player in college.

And its laughable that any guard other than Sears was rated above him in preseason.

He's pretty good. Now it feels like they should have done more with what they had the last 2 years ... but that's how it goes, plus Kolek is also ball dominant

I mean it really just comes down to a 1 and done tournament where shots fall or they don't. That's why its always tough to know what "should have" been accomplished.

Regardless whose here we run such a specific offense that we are going to get loads of wide open shots

Last year we lost two games that defied logic of shot quality, Butler and Nc State. The ladder happened the biggest game of the year

I still don't know how good this years team will be. I can still see the lack of bench options(on offense) plus Jop/Gold being so bi polar on offense leading to us being a very "ok" tourney team in the dreaded toss up 1st round games.

But on the flip side, this is easily the best D of the Shaka era. And God forbid Jop/Gold make shots consistently, we could be back to the 2 line.

Still 4 more legit non con games. Have to at least split those. With ISU being the only one that isnt 50/50 at worst(granted its like 15/85 lol)

Yea it seems odd that they're a better D team without Ighodaro, but their halfcourt D is stout

It's a good win tho. Purude may be the best team in the B1G, which might not say much. Loyer hasn't progressed at all since freshman year

And we lost Omax before that. And Morsell before that.

Key to the D is now its all of Shakas long term long athletes. Mitchell and Ross are elite defenders. Lowery and Norman only play because of D. Kam is massively improved. Joplin and Gold for all their offensive faults have been really good too. Oso versatility was awesome tho.

Purdue I'm also not sure on. They seem really flawed. But we are also a terrible match up for them. Shit they barely beat us twice with a 7"4 cheat code. When they were crushing every other non con foe

Marquette looked incredible last night. Sheesh. Their defense was unreal. I do think Purdue is an awful matchup for Marquette. I think in last year's game they shot a ridiculous percentage from 3 and just barely beat Marquette.
