I'm not sure what happened with Smith. They used him a ton early in the year, especially in the RZ, but backed off later in the year. He torched Oregon and had great games against Iowa, Nebraska, and had some other fantastic games up until Indiana. Then he has 69 receiving yards the final 2 games. It just made no sense. The blood was in the water Saturday with him starting with that long would-be TD where he was held and then he grabbed the TD in the late 2nd, but they didn't take advantage.
As far as utilizing the QBs legs, this is still a mystery. Fields was elite with his legs in Day's first two years, then Stroud came in and Day went away from it entirely, and of course McCord was never a threat. Then he gets an actually somewhat mobile QB in Howard and nothing changed.
