I'm also sure this is going to be one of the first time's Nico is going to have to play in cold weather. I believe he is a california kid, if i remember correctly. The high in Columbus is 30 degrees and the game is 8pm, so it will be in the mid to low 20's by game time.

I don't know if it is supposed to be windy, where the wind chill makes it feel even colder than it is, but I think it will have an effect on the game. You are going to have to run the ball and I think the team who can run the ball effectively will win.

If this game was played indoors or in warm weather -- I think Ohio wins comfortably. I think a night game in the cold favors the team better at running the ball and Tennessee has the better OL. I think Tennessee not only covers the 7.5, but has a very good chance at winning the game.

I missed the beginning of the game driving home from a family Xmas party. It was 14-0 already when it turned it on.

I give props to Ohio's staff. They had a great game plan in the parts I got to watch. I didn't see what happened to Sampson, but him getting injured and falling behind earlier was worst case scenario for the Vols.

Tennnessee's QB isn't much of a passer, but he was impressive running the ball. He is going to be a walking CTE case if he keeps it up though.

When the SEC offensive player of the year is hurt and can't play. Kind of takes away from a team, when your entire offense is based around that player.

I still don't know how he was hurt.

The beginning of the game went just like the rest of the game. OSU was to physical.

A couple of days ago we had winds up to 55mph and cold wind chill factors in Nebbie. I was thinking that it was mega-crap weather for football playing and fans alike. It’s great that there wasn’t that to deal with this week for the Northern games.
 
Wild thing is it would have been even worse had OSU not had an egregiously obvious PI not called in the end zone on Howard's "interception" that wasn't even an actual interception, but also the ridiculous roughing penalty when Nico threw an actual INT that negated it. We're used to facing opposing teams and the officials all year (10th straight game without an opposing OL being flagged for holding despite the fact our DL was destroying them all game), but this should have probably been something like a 49-14 final.

The interception was close enough that I'll let it go. Could have probably been called a DPI but they were letting them play more physical.

The roughing the passer call was horrendous

If the Clemson dude taking 4 steps with both hands on the ball was incomplete against us, there's no way that was an actual INT. Also that DPI was about as textbook as it comes, right down to the dude not having his head turned around. Just a brutal call, arguably worse than the roughing penalty IMO.

'Too', not to.

As far as OSU being 'too physical'. That wasn't the case when I watched. They looked must faster than Tennessee. They had a great game plan offensively, attacking the flats and taking shots when Tennessee went to man coverage.

Tennessee looked lost on offense without Sampson, and if I saw it right, I think even their backup RB was injured in the game too.

I think Ohio came up with a great scheme to attack Tennessee, while Tennessee imploded without Sampson.

Props to Ohio.

I'm as hard on Ohio as anyone and even in the game chat, I said, no way that was an int.

They can't have the whole finishing the process, etc on a catch, but at the same time, giving a guy credit for a catch as soon as the ball touched his hand. That is the only way they could have called that an INT. His toe was just touching the ground when the ball hit his hand -- he hadn't secured anything.

I think Ohio got screwed on that call.

I'll still stick with it was close enough that I wasn't overly upset about it other than it was extremely lucky for UT and the type of momentum swing that can change what starts as a blowout.

That roughing the passer though. So bad. Wasn't late, wasn't to head or neck, and even if he did drive down he had a Tennessee linemen pushing on his back that eventually fell over on him.

The roughing was by far the worse call. That was a “gotta keep this from being a blowout as long as we can to keep as many people watching as we can” call if I’ve ever seen one.

Yeah. That is a call they make in the NFL. I haven't seen that called in a college game.

Ohio St is physical. The fact is it hurts A LOT losing 2 of your best 3 OL and Jackson went out in the TN game. So their best 3 OL. You only watched one game and it was a game where the gameplan was atrocious, worst gameplan since that Clemson blowout 35-0.

Ohio St dominated from start to finish. When Sampson was in he could get yards. The more physical back played better. The only time they could move the ball is when Nico ran it and powered through for 1st downs. But I wouldn’t say 3.3 ypc is very good either.

Tennessee imploded bc they have ran it all year and they couldn’t bc they got behind early. The ohio st offense and defense dominated but the offense set the tone. They did whatever wanted against one of the best and most physical defenses in the country, better than scUM. This is why Ohio St absolutely lost that game, gameplan was awful and played to not lose.

Have fun at the Meineke Car Care bowl, loser.

Ohio State lost the turnover battle yet still won by 25 points. This was a 9/8 matchup in name only. Tennessee was overmatched from the start.

Just too physical for Tennessee. Tennessee wasn't coming close to winning with or without Sampson.
