Do you have a go-to gas station?

The closest one.
this.

usually it is the first one I see when I realize I need gas.

but I usually try to use Wawa when I can.

Cheapest, and whatever's nearby when I need it. When I still lived down South, I only used Amoco/BP stations. Amoco was one of the first companies to give me a credit card when I was a struggling college student.
And now you are a struggling adult

Costco or Fred Meyer's. In Idaho if I can.

Dead ass. Not like a once oopsie shit either.

so with that shit I wonder if it wasn't the distributor ripping off the gas stations by selling them shitty product...like how high does it go or does it jsut stop at the source

Get Go, bitches.

It’s 100% the distributor. Gas stations like that aren’t tied to a refinery, so they buy their gas on the spot market.

I imagine they test it or have some kind of report to review prior to filling their tanks...so they signed off on something

Probably no testing. They’d buy from known distributors and if they had a problem, they’d go back to them to address it. They’re buying gas every day, they’re not out with testing equipment every time the truck shows up.

true...I know when we buy fuel for our diesels here at the plant we test it. It doesn't take long, but I doubt a gas station has a lab set up and it isn't like testing chlorine content in the pool.

So is the distributor falsifying their paperwork? Is the station not checking it or are they knowingly accepting a lesser product?

I am having deja vu...I have had this discussion here before.

I used to work in an indy gas station. We got shipments about 5 times a month, might have gotten a state inspector out once a quarter. We relied on that inspector to tell us if there was a problem with any pumps or with the fuel.

I was going to say, once a day fuel offloads seems a bit too often

The guy I know who owns gas stations owns several, so he may be referring in aggregate. He also owns them in pretty busy parts of Los Angeles, so he may go through more than most. Interestingly, gas stations make very little money on gas. He made nearly all of his money at the car wash and market.

now you have me thinking about their storage size. A post stamp lot in LA likely can't hold too much fuel, so it may be likely they need multiple fills a week...
