The Official SEC thread

How they allocate revenue sharing and where NIL fits in is going to be very entertaining to follow.

The very successful South Carolina's women's basketball team has been losing $5 million a year for several years!

Revenue Sharing implications

What's worse though is Devon Mitchell is off the team. I had high hopes for that guy.

he needed to be booted a long time ago.. gotta give ou credit for not whispering what really happened.. as bad as it looks because he was fat and a huge weed smoker.. he actually got himself in a bad situation with a female.. luckily the cops didn't go further based on both being drunk.. but it was enough for BV to cut cord immediatley

One thing we don't have is issues at running back.

Texas junior running back Savion Red has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

ESPN will sweeten the pot if SEC adds 9th game.

I would be good with Oklahoma's 3 permanent opponents being Arkansas, LSU, and the swimming school.
Let's do the math:

80mm divided by 14 schools = 5,714,285

Since this will more than likely cause some schools to miss bowl games, the average payout to schools is between 500K and 2mm, so they come out ahead on that (most schools lose money when travel expenses are factored in).

For a handful of schools this is going to come down to is the 5.7mm worth the extra loss and missed additional practices for bowls which does have tremendous value.

There will probably be 2 to 3 that are going to have issues with who becomes their permanent opponents (looking at you Bama). So this will be decided by schools that are scared of missing bowls and those that are just flat out pussies and if they can consolidate resistance.

I will say this announcement being made public means that Sankey has been hard at work to make it happen and that carries a ton a weight so I put this at 85%.

If & when the SEC goes to 9 conference games (B1G has been at 9 conference games since 2017) and if a regular season scheduling agreement is made with the B1G consisting of approx. 12 games played between the SEC & B1G annually, then Notre Dame is going to have a more difficult time scheduling premier opponents. The Irish will probably need to schedule a few Big XII and PAC 12 games each year... NBC will not like this and I could see NBC start to pressure Notre Dame into joining the B1G in all sports, including football.

If Notre Dame does eventually join the B1G, then NBC will probably try to work a deal with the B1G to retain broadcast rights to all Notre Dame conference home games, with FOX & CBS splitting the Notre Dame conference away games.

Problem with your logic is that the B1G has been at 9 home games since 2017 and there still is not a B1G AD that would not take ND’s call and schedule a home and home.

There is no way if ND called any AD in the SEC and asked for a home and home they would be told no.

ND isn’t going to have scheduling issues and they aren’t going to be pressured by NBC.

If ND eventually joins a conference it will be because their non-football sports don’t have an attractive home and they are removed from the football national championship consideration.

Eventually the SEC and B1G will decide they should just play each other for the football natty and at that point ND will need to decide if independence still works.

Truth is right now the SEC and B1G have separated themselves to the point is nearly impossible for anyone else to win a football natty it just has to get to a point where ND feels that way. To be fair they’ve been close enough in recent years that isn’t on the radar but it’s coming.

The ACC is going to fold eventually and that will be a problem so that will be the first issue they have to navigate.

This is exactly correct. I wish the SEC and B1G would go ahead and break away right now. They are just giving the other 100ish schools a false sense of hope and security imo.
