The Official SEC thread

Cuts to Arkansas athletic dept

This topic may need its own thread when some financial reality sets in. Sounds like quite a few of the cuts will be some sort of "administrative" cuts at Arkie. But others are talking cutting some sports.

Disclaimer: I view this through my old school superintendent lens when revenues are less than expenses. Those two things had to balance....at least at the beginning and managed along the way.

This part of the article got what little brain I have left whirling.

If Arkansas (and similar schools) aren't in or close to one of the "wealthiest" programs, then there will be damn few.

Across the SEC, where schools like Arkansas have long prided themselves on tradition, the challenge now is how to remain competitive while meeting these new obligations.

Some athletic directors have voiced concerns that the revenue-sharing era could widen the gap between the haves and have-nots. Only the wealthiest programs may be able to keep pace with escalating athlete compensation and the rising costs of facilities and support services.

Schools smaller than Arkansas will feel the pinch, too.
It's going to take awhile to sort it all out, but things are changing. Just not as much in the SEC and other large conferences.

Arkansas is COOKED

I'd like a pulled pork sammich, cole slaw, baked beans, and tater salad, please.
Sorry…today’s special is Chicken Quesadillas served with rancho beans and Spanish Rice. The pollo won’t be done until around 6…been in the crock pot since 10:30…put the cilantro in an hour ago.

Pulled pork is NEXT Sunday.
