The Stormlight Archive

I have the Wax and Wayne series to read still...Yumi and Sunlit as well.

I haven't read Warbreaker or Elantris either.
Just finished Sunlit, that was a real burner (pun intended). Literally could not take a breath, the pace was breakneck. He said in the afterword that it's kind of like a Mad Max story, which totally fits. The central character is from the Stormlight books.

Also finished Wax and Wayne, that was decent but not like the first Mistborn series. The Ghostbloods were prominent in the finale.

Started Yumi this morning on the train

In his interview with Winter is Coming, Sanderson mentioned the sheer number of books he's basically been sitting on the ideas for ever since the first Mistborn book was released:

There's a few of those. Like when I finally get to write the Hoid backstory, that's another one...I know exactly what it's gonna be, I just gotta find the hole in my schedule to write it. And that one's not planned until after Stormlight 10, so people don't have to panic too much. But you know, I've wanted to do this forever, and so being able to sit down and finally do it feels extremely gratifying, and the writing's going great. You know, these are characters that I've known for 20 years that I finally get to introduce to people.

Please don't be like GoT or WoT dudes
I don't think it is fair to put Sanderson in that box...especially because I feel like they will be tapping him to finish GoT since GRRM isn't getting it done.

speaking of GRRM

“I know, I know,” Martin wrote. “Some of you will just be pissed off by this, as you are by everything I announce here that is not about Westeros or THE WINDS OF WINTER. You have given up on me, or on the book. I will never finish WINDS, If I do, I will never finish A DREAM OF SPRING. If I do, it won’t be any good. I ought to get some other writer to pinch hit for me…. I am going to die soon anyway, because I am so old. I lost all interest in A Song of Ice and Fire decades ago. I don’t give a shit about writing any longer, I just sit around and spend my money. I edit the Wild Cards books too, but you hate Wild Cards. You may hate everything else I have ever written, the Hugo-winners and Hugo-losers, “A Song for Lya” and DYING OF THE LIGHT, “Sandkings” and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, “This Tower of Ashes” and “The Stone City,” OLD MARS and OLD VENUS and ROGUES and WARRIORS and DANGEROUS WOMEN and all the other anthologies I edited with my friend Gardner Dozois. You don’t care about any of those, I know. You don’t care about anything but WINDS OF WINTER. You’ve told me so often enough.”

Just hoping BS doesn't die before finishing Stormlight, that would be ironic

he's only 49...I have total faith that he will finish unless something unforeseen happens to him

some of these writers are such fragile flowers....

I mean, I get that life gets in the way sometimes, but all GRRM is doing is some Scrooge McDuck swimming in a vault full of money.

not like the divorces people like Rothfuss or Jim Butcher have gone through...that shit will mess you up.

He doesn't owe you a damn thing.

I didn't say he did. But he seems to be spending more time defending why he isn't writing the book, than actually writing the book. At this point it looks like he refuses to finish it just because people expect it.

Plus, he's fat

Sounds like a success to me.

Sounds like a bit of a child. Glad I never read one of his books. I was a rabid GOT fan on TV right up until they fucked it up entirely with the last season. The franchise is dead to me.

there are plenty of good fantasy series out there...but to be honest I am not sure any hit the same way the GoT books did.

But if he has no plans to finish it, there's no point in reading it, even if I was interested. I'm still waiting for the last book in the Red Rising series. If I'd known when I started the series that there would be a book 7 some time in the future to wrap it all up, I would have waited until it was out to start the series. Fucking good series.

there is still a part of me holding onto hope that GRRM finishes it...but who knows.

the television show kind of fucked it all up.

and I agree with Red Rising...but I have total faith in Pierce Brown...that handsome motherfucker

I was all in on the books but only watched some of the shows. Then when I found out the tv series was further along than the books, I figured he'd never actually finish the stories.

I hated when they passed the books...and HBO just kept on steamrolling along.
