He should hold out for the UNC job but I guess he can always just leave Texass like he did UNLV.

Maybe he can change his mind after a 'better offer' comes along like accountants and engineers get to do...
 
Texas hit the lottery and just got paid by Marquette to upgrade substantially.

This is like the Herschel Walker trade to Minnesota kind of impact.

I hope so. But it's been our history of late that things looking good on paper haven't translated to success in action.
 
Beard going to get paid more than the football coach.

They said this was the plan for awhile.. Before Howard got hired at Michigan, there was interest with Shaka there. If Michigan hired Shaka, UT would have dropped the buyout. They have been trying to let Shaka walk for awhile now. I doubt Marquette is paying a dollar for a buyout in hiring Shaka. And since UT didn't have to fire Shaka with another 2 years left on his contract, it made the buyout for Beard that much easier to do.

Yeah something about Beard that tells me he isn't what people think he is.. but with my track record of coaching hires, I'm sure he will go on to be the most successful HC in Texas Basketball history lol

Yep and rightly so, he has more skins on the wall compared to Sark who is a really good coach himself.. But Sark does have the most expensive coaching staff in the Big 12 and CFB, IIRC. DC is getting 1.7 mil, TE is getting over a mil, OL/OC coach getting 1.1 mil, DL 900k, DB 800k, LB 900k.. it's an expensive coaching staff, helped by Sark bringing *only* 5.2 mil

Yeah Shaka's buyout was dropped.

I'm pretty sure the only thing Marquette is paying is the salary of any of his assistants that are not kept on staff.
 
Impossible to keep a guy at a mid-major.

Hard enough to keep 'em at a Big East school. Money talks...

His daughter goes to Loyola? Now he can make sure his daughter never has to work in her life... (though that was prolly the case at Loyola too).
 
I wonder if Oklahoma went after Beard too.

I think Oklahoma is the slightly better job actually.

Beard went to UT. I’m not even sure he leaves Texas Tech otherwise

Good hire by OU.

More proof that if Marquette wanted Moser, they woulda got Moser. Guy was ready to move.
