I wonder if Oklahoma went after Beard too.

I think Oklahoma is the slightly better job actually.
OU is a better job. More wins than Texas, more conference titles, better in the tourny, and OU owns the head to head.

I think it's very close. Both football schools.

OU with a bit more tradition and fan support, Texas with a bit more resources and upper end potential. Close.

Porter Moser to Oklahoma is the word. Carpetbaggin' bastard.

Impossible to keep a guy at a mid-major.

Hard enough to keep 'em at a Big East school. Money talks...

His daughter goes to Loyola? Now he can make sure his daughter never has to work in her life... (though that was prolly the case at Loyola too).
He was Loyola's highest paid employee. She was already set.

If Moser turns down Loyola's massive ten year counter and goes with Oklahoma, Drew Valentine is probably the next Ramblers HC.

@Wild Turkey

Good hire by OU.

More proof that if Marquette wanted Moser, they woulda got Moser. Guy was ready to move.
How can you possibly believe that? Oklahoma is a much better job then Marquette. This is not proof at all Moser goes to Marquette. Still waiting on that interview you stated would be out in early April.

If Moser had been available Marquette would have taken him over Smart, who Texas waived the buyout to get rid of, but he can't admit it.

I'm shocked Loyola offered a 2.2 million deal for 10 years. Valentine looks to be the guy and has been with Moser for 4 years so he has been part of the run.

It all comes down to recruiting.

I see where Moser got 6 years but I can't find contract amount.

I likewise can’t find $ details for Moser’s deal.

I don’t doubt that and honestly I believe Marquette is a good job. I just find it ridiculous that since Moser took a better job, it’s proof he would have absolutely taken a not better job in Marquette.

But to each their own.

1. No it’s not lol(not saying it’s worse either).

2. because of location and being a Jesuit school

3. You didn’t even think he was moving. You haven’t had a clue on this at any point. Moser was always leaving Loyola this year. It was now or never.

why??

because Moser has been some basketball savant for years?? You keep saying this and have no explanation. Shaka went to a final 4 at a mid major just like Moser. Unlike Moser you know what Shaka has???

1. Younger
2. Experience recruiting really, really well at a high major
3. Coaching at a high major(didn’t go great but he won conference tournies and made the tournament)
4. A reputation with young

Moser had literally had 1 good 4 year cycle for his entire career. He runs a very specific style of basketball. Every single Marquette player would have hit the portal within moments of his hiring.

DJ Carton is not playing for Porter Moser.

1) yes it is, lol

2) Marquette’s a better location then a kentucky or kansas, does that make it on par or better basketball program then those schools?

3) I didn’t think he’d leave. I certainly didn’t think he’d leave for Marquette. Him going to a better program is no such proof whatsoever he’d of chosen Marquette. An you did say he could stay, don’t lie. Still waiting on that “interview” proof you stated happened.

What he is doing is the following:

1. Probably going to earn 3mm and triple his income guaranteed for 5 years.

2. He is going to have way more resources,

3. He is now at a P5 school and doesn’t have to win the conference to get to the big dance (this is a major consideration).

What is yet to be seen if he can recruit the athletes he will need to compete in the Big 12.

I guess it doesn’t concern you that Shaka’s buyout was waived. That’s really unheard of.

1. No, it’s literally not. They are two completely different programs with different positives. The programs as a whole are basically identical.

2. After all this time of myself and other telling you why Marquette appeals him. If you still translate that as •Marquette is a better program than kentucky” it’s a personal problem for yourself, again.

3. yes, I said he “could stay”. You said he would. While all the experts insight pointed to the contrary. Who first reported Moser and OU? Goodman and his sources. But ya, not plugged in.

No it doesn’t concern me at all.

They had Beard lined up, of course they waived it lol.

People want to play for Shaka. There is literally 0 proof that any recruit gives a flying fuck about Porter Moser.

Moser did really well with a 4 year cycle of mid major players, he was AWFUL otherwise. Got fired from a mid major. His highest recruit at Loyola was rated higher than a whopping 3 Marquette players over the last 7 years.

Mosers calling card? Defense. Shaka also a proven track record of good high major defense. There is no reason to go Moser over Shaka.

Shaka will bring in the talent. He will keep the talent. I’ll trust he can win the games.

1) The history is richer at Marquette sure. Oklahoma over the last 20 years has been better.

2) I’m telling you location doesn’t matter. If it did, poser wasn’t picking Oklahoma. Simple as that.

3) I said he wouldn’t leave for Marquette with other programs open. I said I think he’d stay but Marquette wouldnt be chosen with what was open. And Mosers hiring didn’t become official until Oklahoma announced it, not Jeff Goodman. This is where I’m coming from when Im trying to tell you sources don’t pick coaches.

Im not doing this again. I have my opinion and YOU HAVE YOUR OPINION. That’s all it was.

I actually agree with you here. Shaka is the better hire for sure. Hell Moser owes his new coaching job to going on 2 good runs in the tourney, that’s about it.
