tOfficial Amazon Thread

I bought a part for my fridge from Amazon for about 8 bucks.

The retailer site wanted $57.43. Are you kidding me? Hell, they wanted $4.78 for a screw. A cotdam screw!

Local guy would have simply given you the screw. But since none of you would support him he went out of business and got on drugs and alcohol. How could you? Shame on you all!

hahaha

He probably drove the van that delivered the screw from Amazon.

My brother and sister-in-law walk around all day long wherever they are talking to Alexa, telling Alexa to do shit. She hears everything. We turned a movie up to about 100db and and he said "Alexa, start the dishwasher" in a normal voice and she fuckin heard it.

I asked him if it crossed his mind that maybe there was some reason to be concerned about AI fucking listening to everything they say and do and his response was something about making me a tinfoil hat so I never said anything else about it.

Blows my mind how people trust this shit.

I made the mistake of getting a Google Wifi system, so the "point" has a built in Google Assistant. It randomly illuminates (searching for audio input) when it wants to, without either of us saying the buzzwords to activate it.

And Alexa has every word you've spoken in her presence stored in the AI cloud somewhere, too.
It’s amazing how much our technology is listening to us. Our oldest daughter was in town over the weekend. We went to get lunch and afterward she wanted to get something at an Ulta store in the same shopping center. In the store, there was a poster for something from Tory Burch with a picture of a woman on it. My wife asked if that was Tory Burch or a model. I pulled out my phone and googled Tory Burch. A couple of hours later, I looked at my Facebook and the first thing I saw was a recommendation for some Tory Burch product. It’s a little disturbing.

I was in my mid twenties.

I buy better products from my local vendors... like meats from a local butcher instead of mass produced Sam's Club meats when I can.

I will not buy the exact same product at a higher cost from somebody local just because they are local.

Alexa is the cops. This is shit not even Orwell could imagine.
I keep one in my bug out bag.

You don't have one in your zombie bunker?
