Looks like I will be a roofer this weekend.

the condenser is outside, the furnace and evaporator is in the attic.

We honestly have probably 75% like that here. The majority are not roof mounted.
Ok, that's the same here. Where we were staying in AZ (Glendale, a shithole for the most part BTW) had them all on the roof.

all of the elements. We put ours in the attic here. The house I was staying at had an attic, but the unit was out on the roof just like everyone else. The pigeons seemed to love them.
The pigeons do love them. I skirted mine with chicken wire years ago, when we first moved in.

That's a good idea.

Still gonna fucking suck tho.

Totally cool find also. Couple sides of the chimneys are completely wide open from them just not putting enough stucco on 32 years ago

I am just too hardheaded to hire someone to do about a 400 sqft section of my roof. My house was built in 88', and the section where my HVAC units are mounted, is asphalt shingles. last weekend we had shitty wind ALL weekend long, and while looking outside, I saw shingles floating in the pool. Looked out at the roof, and there were shingles blowing all over the place. Knew I was totally fucked when I saw a piece of felt paper blow away to the neighbors yard.

Got up and measured it out, figured on upgrading some flashing, and spent about 500 on materials. had my son help me get all the shit on the roof yesterday, and will be diving into it this weekend. Hope I can get it all done by Sunday.

Will post pictures when I get up there this weekend. I'm a fucking idiot.

The compressor is outside on the side of the house, but condenser and furnace are in the attic.
My furnace is in the laundry room

kickout flashing.jpg

Made a couple pieces of "kickout" flashing for the sides of the chimney, where other water has been seeping through the stucco a little. Going to have to cut into the stucco, to get it behind the existing flashing. to kick the water away from the stucco where the roof terminates.

That looks like a job! Be careful. Probably regret taking it on soon....haha
Nah. I'm a cheap fuck, so saving a couple grand makes it worth it. Wait til you see my fall protection. Can't really do much from a ladder, so I will have to do everything from the roof side.

I used to do swing stage, and boats wain chair work, but this setup I have going, is definitely not osha approved. Left over life line rope, couple shackles, a choker and a harness. One end of the rope will be tied across the roof to the basketball hoop, that is buried on a 3 foot deep footing.

I asked the wife if the life insurance policy was paid up. She said," I will never let your policy lapse"
