The Welcome Back Two Team Baseball Draft : CHAT

It's obviously not your fault or anyone's for that matter. When we first started the drafts on tHoop back in 2013 we would have 5,6,7 times more posts in the chat than we would in the picks thread. In this draft there is nearly twice as many picks as posts in the chat thread.

Seems to me we are trying to keep something alive thats been dead for years.

True. There was a lot more banter, which made chatting fun. It wasn't usually attached to the draft itself, it was more life than anything. We bitched and complained about waiting forever for someone to pick, and chatted about everything under the sun while we waited. Now, to speed things up, people just wait for the text. No need to banter, cause they'll be informed when it's time to update their list and pick. Nothing wrong with that, but it has reduced the need for people to visit the chat page to fill the time between picks.

We've also had some strong personalities that aren't here anymore. Hell, I've been in and out of the drafts so much, there're posters who've thought I was the new guy and didn't realize I've been here forever. Several probably still think they've been here longer than I have.

I'd love to banter more. I know I love the drafts when I'm in them, John Elway is overrated, but not as much as Tom Brady and Eddie Guidal is the single best 3'7" player of all time!

So, going back to before I would text everyone is the answer? lolzzz

Futbol is getting more popular because parents are afraid to put their kids into a real sport for fear of being hurt. Anybody who finds futbol more exciting than baseball should be pushed down a hill!

If futbol is getting more popular it's because anybody can play it, see ball kick ball, not everybody can hit a round ball with a round bat coming at you at 50,60,80 MPH.

We can't have little Jimmy going 0 - 4 with three strikeouts, that will hurt his feels but hey if Jimmy plays soccer he will get a chance to kick a ball, yay Jimmy here's a trophy!!
Hockey is the most exciting sport to me. Even now ticket prices are reasonable and the arena designs allow better seating imo. I do think the salary cap helps a bit not letting money get out of hand. Biggest problem is parents don’t tend to want their kids to play hockey it’s brutal. And it’s not a cheap sport to play from equipment down to ice time Doesn’t get near the exposure it should hell ESPN hates the NHL for not caving to them.... I It’s a shame it doesn’t get the attention it deserves best live sport to attend, most exciting sport to watch, most difficult championship to win... But you know all this very well

Can't remember the last time I watched a game. I think it was a Penguins playoff game like 5 years ago. Used to piss Ritz off when I'd tease him about Ovechkin vs. Sid

The Devils started strong and collapsed this year in the running for another lottery pick. How have you been stokes? I wish I could be on as much as I used to be. But I do think about y’all and miss y’all a lot tho. What are your thoughts on the new team in Seattle y’all are unleashing the Krakens soon

Re: The baseball discussion.

I see the main thing for me is the poor quality of the announcers and too much availability to games. When you had 1 or 2 teams in your market, their games became events, now you can see 3 games a day. Plus, like I said, the announcers. They are just bleh.

Too much corporate, not enough personality. The announcers themselves sound like they're bored, trying to fill the airwaves with mundane chatter. It's not even the availability of games, IMO, just announcers as exciting as drying paint.

This is even an issue in local markets. I miss Dave Neihaus.

I don't know. It's hard to get excited. Hockey isn't my sport, and the city completely botched the whole arena thing. I'm not excited for tv hockey (except olympics) and I'm sure as hell not going to see one in person with the catastrophe that is going to be the remodeled Key Arena. I'll check in with the local news to see how they're doing, but most likely won't become a diehard by any stretch. So, about the same as with the Storm.

Well when Joe Buck is the #1 guy you know there isn't anybody worth a shit! Funny, because his dad was great!

Well, we can thank the cry at everything crowd for at least some of this (if not most, IMO). Can't have too much personality, because they have to offend as few people as possible. So, they tone everything down. They are more concerned about not generating controversy than creating excitement.

I hope some of yall caught the game yesterday. It was a depressing finish for me, but damn it was great to be that emotionally invested in the game for a while. But if you did, I think you would have appreciated that both teams were phenomenal on defense.

I was busy doing anything else.

Shame. You're missing out on some greatness. Even if you can't stand the modern NBA the talent and what some of these guys can do is incredible.

I have absolutely no doubt that's true but it's just unwatchable for me, I could literally name 1,000 things i'd rather do with my time.

The Westbrook one was the GOAT. I saw that live and lost my shit.

Traveling appears to have always been an issue and complaint, but in recent years the players have really taken liberties that were unimaginable in years past.

Does anyone else think that Eddie Cicotte has been a little underrated due to his supposed involvement in the Black Sox scandal?
