Ah yes, the ref in bright pink in this game. He was as liberal on carding (not including the Danielson red card, which was spot on) as he was conservative on stoppage time.
Wasn’t his influence that put it in extra time, and boy guys started falling. I’ll be surprised if Ukraine can field any kind of healthy roster and bench by Saturday.
I spent the most time on debating who wins the Czech-Denmark game. It ended up being a coin toss.
It will be the most interesting clash to me because I think the Czechs can play a game that could slow Denmark’s momentum down. But, I just don’t know how strong the injury (almost death) momentum is for Denmark.
It’s always hard to grasp these things before they either win it all or lost it at some point.
The coin toss tells me the Danes keep going. But, it’s going to be super interesting to see it play out.
I expect:
• England to just walk by a beat up and tired Ukraine ream
• Spain and Switzerland just feels blah to me. I feel like the Swiss will come to play but the Spanish might just find that boring strength of theirs to control the ball and power out a 1-0 game.
• Belgium-Italy just feels like one of those power games on paper that end up not living to expectations. Belgium is banged up and old in many spots. They were lackluster in the round of 16. Italy shouldn’t have an issue making the semis….short of Lukaku putting it all together at his feet and just slaughtering them. Just doesn’t feel super exciting to me.
