Some of the smaller SEC members very well might nix the deal. If you're Florida...Georgia..Tennessee and you're avoiding Bama every year; you don't want to flip things around and make that a reality. The only benefit for some of the lesser schools is the financial gain. Will that be enough to get them to vote for a system where they may not win anything anytime soon?
Those "smaller" ones might very well feel that way. But the financial gain has won out every time inCFB the past 20+ years. It is ONLY about money. So I suspect they'll stay quiet and take the additional crumbs, smile ;ile it is fine and concentrate on other sports with the new money.

If their thinking turns to "fuck it, we have enough money like it is", then they will do as you suggested. But, it seems to me none of them ever have "enough" money. Kind of like my youngest daughter. She should have married into the Gates, Bezos, Knight, Pickens, etc families. And I'd bet that still wouldn't be enough for her tastes.

Wonder who that would piss off the most. The Aggies or the Huskers?
We won't care, as along as we don't have to put up with their shit. Let the B1G deal with them.

SEC also gains the Dallas, OKC, and Austin markets.

So when this all comes out as a ploy to pressure Fox, will the fans of these two schools who want this spin to 1) The SEC isn't that great anyways or 2) Our school turned down SEC's begging to join

:pop2:

Nope all of those are voided and you are back to square one…it’s in the agreement.
aTm won like 3 conference championships and 2 Natties the summer they joined the SEC determined that is a lie.

Clemson wouldn’t add much market value. Already a South Carolina team and Clemson despite their success doesn’t have the same weight as Texas

Florida State is doable, but there’s 3 no votes off the bat
Also, if the SEC wants to expand in the East and take ACC schools, they need to try and get a school from North Carolina and Virginia

At some point, when these conferences get too large, are teams really in conferences together anymore? If you're playing another team like once a decade, are you really in the same conference? It seems more like we're entering an MLB/NFL type system where we're creating leagues and divisions within those leagues.
You are thinking old fashioned.

But, I like it. :beer2:

It will be “the SEC didn’t want them to be there”

This says that Oklahoma can leave without Oklahoma State in tow.
Separate Board of Regents and the Legislature has no power.
Not sure I believe all that, but here it is.

The perfect scenario for OU would be to take Oklahoma State with us and leave Texas as the Big Fish in a damaged Big XII. Small chance of that happening but I'd prefer not to see Jr. get screwed in this whole thing. We'll see if UT can get past the hissy fit Texas A&M is going to throw. I can actually see Texas A&M doing something stupid. Only someone who has spent much time around Bryan-College Station can understand the siege mentality those people always have about everything. There's no other place on earth like Bryan-College Station.

If anyone is going to the East it’s Auburn. Everything you wrote was non-sense.
Bama going east puts Bama&OU in the CCG most years, that’s the thinking. Auburn would be a good fit too for weekly matchups (UGA of course/UT/UF) that’s be great but “stacking the deck” a bit to get Bama v OU ccg most years would be better for the conference imo.

If you CAN get Texas over any other B12 team then of course you do but the rest including WVU are all about the same interest wise but WVU is ready made (gateway to the southeast like Mizzu is to the west) for regionally interesting games, not blockbuster granted but you would get even less interest from the west/Midwest schools imo.
People in the southeast just wouldn’t be as interested in watching (for instance) Okie State v Arkansas as they would a WVU v UK game.

I honestly think this report is a ploy. It is the shot across the bow to let everyone know realignment is on its way and let the process begin. I doubt OU as Texas could keep it quiet and would not listen to other offers. Not to mention there will be political issues for both Texas and OU in state.

WVU should be reaching out to the ACC immediately.
Oh they have, many times historically but have had the door slammed in their faces every time.
WVU prob had their best chance when Pitt/SU left for the ACC but they were trying to stay loyal to the poorly ran BigEast.
When they came begging after the other schools left the ACC left them on the doorstep.

WVU was mentioned for the SEC when Mizzu was in talks for their invite but market , lack thereof killed em.

Texas/Texas A&M
Texas/Arkansas
Oklahoma/LSU
Oklahoma/Arkansas

Just some interesting regional matchups.
