In case you don’t see it, the writing is on the wall.
what will the future of post-secondary school, pre-NFL football look like?
Will whatever league(s) forms still be tied to colleges? What size will that league be?
Will the NCAA still be involved?
If not the NCAA, which entity(s) will step up to form the new future?
Will the NFL just bite the bullet and create its own farm system?

Colleges will be.

"We ain't come to play school" only applies to a very small percentage of CFB players.

Where else is society gonna get it's insurance and car salesmen?

I think they will stayed tied to colleges. True minor league football would cut the pay of the players. Quite simply, I am not a fan of Wisconsin's players. I am a fan of Wisconsin football.

teams must come up with new nicknames to separate from colleges.
and go....

Not sure why so many people seem hell bent on ruining colege football.
Because the principals have been cut out from proper compensation for half a century, at least. For starters.
plus, besides the rah rah siss boom bah, college football is truly an ugly, unfair, dirty institution.

I do not disagree. Just saying that there are going to be a ton of fans who opt out of the new way of things. Been a mad dog fan myself since 1971, but I have no interest in where it is headed. Real shame overall IMO.

We were all fans of the indentured servitude tackleball game. But that doesn’t make it right.
Let’s look at it this way:
Are you a fan of your college baseball team? I am. I get excited for them, track their progress, Go to their games, etc. I don’t care if the program doesn’t make money or that the best talent from high school goes to pro A-ball.
So, let’s imagine pro football gets a minor league, and college football is slightly less “talented,” I’m still going to go to the games, cheer for the team, etc etc. And on top of that, cfb already has a giant head start in stature as it’s been the premiere league for football for the 18-22 year old set for a century. It won’t fall in esteem as much as people might think.

01. I 100% agree with the athletes being exploited for so long. It has been a shame, and I do not begrudge them getting their fair share going forward.

02. I'm not a college baseball fan. I once was (been to multiple CWSs) until I moved to a MLB City (Chicago and Cincinnati) and started going to Cubs and Reds games regularly. It's a style thing: Aluminum bats, etc.

FTR, I have been to 330 College Football Games in my lifetime. I have seen a total of 123 teams (110 FBS + 13 others) play in 76 stadiums. I have been a fan of the game over time more than just a team fan. I love the pagentry and going to the Camelia Bowl or a Cincinnati Bearcats game as much as I enjoy going to a CFP Game or an Alabama Crimson Tide game. That is going to change.

This new product that seems to be in formation is going to turnoff the majority of CFB fans who root for non traditional powers (like me). We will become fans of what ever the majority of our teams end up forming.

On the other side of the fence, when the Big Schools are only playing each other and half of them become the losers, the caca is going to hit the fan! Maybe then, they will appreciate the teams they once took for granted.

So, I am going to enjoy the hell out of what is probably the last year of Big Xii Football and what should be the best year ever for Iowa State football. Winning the last Big Xii Championship would be grand!

Not sour grapes, just sad for the loss of a sport I have loved for over half a century.

Just my onion!

So you're suggesting a minor league of 18-22 y/o's for the NFL completely separate from college campus?
Skip college and go to the minor league?

Hasn't that essentially already failed with XFL, WFL, USFL, UFL, etc... Not college age kids, but minor leagues of guys that were either trying to make a comeback or were cut in training camps.
They didn't make much money when playing, but at least had some college to fall back on.

What happens to these 18-22 y/o kids that never make the NFL and have to go back to the streets?

I didn’t suggest anything.
when you try for something and don’t make it, you have to try something else. Like every endeavor

Can't see it happening ...

1. who is going to pay for it? The NFL won't.

2. If you think college football players get taken advantage of, talk to a minor league baseball player ... they laugh at how good the college football players have it. Minor league football isn't going to happen.

3. I like my college ball because they are students, at some level. I don't mind they get academic money, and with the Alford ruling, they will get a ton more of that - laptops, iPads, internships, etc. I don't mind they get NIL money ... think that is great. Don't want pay to play, nor do a majority of fans of the game.

4. CFB has never been more popular, and it will be when we all die.

Odd.... That's what I took from this.

It is odd that you would take that I’m suggesting it …instead of just writing my thoughts on a potential scenario… which is what I laid out explicitly.

I wrote (AND YOU QUOTED) “so let’s imagine,” and you took that as “I’m suggesting this…”
That *is* odd.

There were a good bit of people that thought the top players would skip college and just play in the XFL for a bit of money. None did and the league, and leagues like it, keep folding after just one year.

I feel like for years we have been hearing that college football is just going to turn into a minor league system, but it hasn't, and it hasn't gotten any closer to it. And if anything is ever created, it would have to be tied to the colleges. Nothing is going to survive on its own.

I actually misunderstood this point from you earlier. If there is an official pro football (separate from college football) minor league, I will still enjoy college football very much an not be interested in the minor league. As it is, I already enjoy going to FCS non-scholarship games @ Drake in the PFL.

What I am not interested in is a separation of the upper tier monied teams to become a de facto pay for play minor league system that is separate from the remainder majority of FBS schools that cannot or do not want to go that route.

It is not going to "turn into" a minor leage system because it has been the NFLs minor league system forever...just without paying the players a pittance. And it hasn't cost the NFL teams a dime. They love it.
