My dad's family is Czech. There are a lot of Czech and German communities in central Texas.

Sure enough, Zabcikville has a wikipedia page. Just like the town, it's very small.

Zabcikville, Texas (/ˈzɑːbtʃɪkvɪl/ ZAHB-chik-vil[1]) is an unincorporated community in east Bell County, Texas with a population of about 40 according to a 1990 estimate.[2] Zabcikville is known for Green's Sausage House, the only remaining open business in town, that serves as a restaurant and a store for residents and people passing through.[3]

The town is named for the Zabcik (Žabčik) family, immigrants from Ratiboř in the Zlín Region of Moravia, Czech Republic. When the Zabciks immigrated to Texas in 1855, Ratiboř was part of the Austrian Empire.


I've never been to Rosebud. Maybe Citizen Kane was talking about this town.

In Rosebud, I've only been to the house where my father was living at the time and the Mexican restaurant, which I think is the only remaining open business in that town, if it's even still there. I was there back in the late 90's. Oh, and at the risk of sounding, I don't know, like a snob, I guess, if you ever go to Rosebud, don't make a Citizen Kane quip, or if you do, at least don't expect anyone to understand it. I know this from personal experience.

Ok, so, your dad's family is Czech, and I knew Zabcikville was a Czech community because the woman a relative of mine married came from a Czech family in Zabcikville.

This way, way, way too fuckin' small world for me.

I just finished watching Succession and the patriarch made a comment about some "Rose" person and my brain went on the fritz, trying to remember the history and was thinking, "Why is he saying Rose? I thought it was Rosebud?!".

I watched Citizen Kane a few weeks ago. Obviously got my lions crossed.
