How bad would Nebraska have beaten Michigan in 1997?

Likewise, Michigan scored 262 of their total 322 points (huge difference in offensive output btw) that season prior to the 4th quarter. Meaning that Michigan also scored 81% of their points prior to the 4th quarter.

Nebraska scored 492 of their total 607 points that season PRIOR to the 4th quarter. That means that Nebraska scored 81% of their points before the 4th quarter, hardly call that running of the score.

Both teams score the same percentage of points prior to the 4th quarter. I wouldn't say, either team ran up the score.

Also... you claim that the Big 12 was a weaker conference that year, but the Big 12 finished with more ranked teams (5) than the Big10 (4) including two top 10 teams in Nebraska and Kansas St whereas Michigan was the only top 10 BigTen team. The Big10 also had a team go winless, 0-11, when even Iowa St got a win (1-10). Unlike Michigan, Nebraska also had to risk it all in an additional conference championship game. Michigan actually skipped out on playing one of the ranked BigTen teams in Purdue.

Nebraska allowed on average 16-17 points per game. #5 total defense
Michigan allowed on average 10 points per game. #1 total defense

Nebraska scored on average 47 points per game. #1 total offense
Michigan scored on average 27 points per game. #44 total offense

Not true. It has always been about stability and money.

If that is true, then why, by your own admission, are "experts" favoring Nebraska? To put the Colorado game on the same level of meaning from a CU perspective is completely nonsensical. I am sure CU would prefer to have won both, but who do you think they care more about winning against, a good nonconference opponent, or an IN CONFERENCE RIVAL?

This is a 23+ Year Fight. It is silly ... I made valid points without saying my team (Michigan) was superior. I am not willing to concede, but I am willing to accept that this whole thread is rather silly. We are FAR from being your bitch, then or now. If you make this thread about Michigan vs. ohio state ... I would have no argument. We have lost eight straight to them and one where we didn't have the decency to not show up and hide behind COVID.

Stop reliving 1997 and look forward to 2021.

But not against UCF.
We didn't either. We beat them by 14. Fact remains, you still had 4 one possession games out of 12 and we only had 2 out of 13. Meaning, you struggled to win in a conference that finished with fewer ranked teams. At least our 2 close games were both on the road rivalry games.
And in that extra game you needed a miracle to win (right. That was that game. Right?)
No, actually the extra game was a conference championship game. Don't worry, you are Michigan, I don't expect you to know anything about conference championship games. Shit is funny. Nebraska has been horrible the last decade and we still managed a B1G conference title game, Michigan can't even manage that. And don't give me that division nonsense, especially since when we made it, Nebraska and Michigan were in the same division.

Also, more teams in our division have managed more wins against Ohio St since the turn of the century than Michigan. Hell, even Nebraska has as many wins against Ohio St as Michigan does in the last 15 years.

yeah. But you struggled with UCF. Sooo

True and I respect you not conceding even though in your heart of hearts.... you know you would've gotten rocked.
We are FAR from being your bitch, then or now.
Michigan leads the series 5-4-1. Here is to good games between our schools in the future. :beer2:
Stop reliving 1997 and look forward to 2021.
Ok.... then just say 97 Nebraska > 97 Michigan. Everyone else here has, ESPN has, numerous sites have. It is ok.

yeah. But you struggled with UCF. Sooo
I mean it was 31-17 Nebraska going into the 4th and we still finished by beating them by multiple possessions. If you call that struggling, ok... then what do you call closer games than that? Because Michigan had 4 of them.

(1) I agree with this statement … if you believe in you team, when they meet us on October 9th … a one week avatar bet and concession that their team won the 1997 championship.

Michigan didn’t struggle with any mid majors in 97

Sure. Ignore the fact that they almost lost to BC and Va Tech and then win gold in the mental gymnastics and you may be on to something.

Stats speak for themselves. 97 would be close. 95 Nebraska would've killed them. I would guess it would be by less than what Nebraska did to Florida that year, but I would say probably by 3 possessions.

Hell, ESPN thinks there are 2 Nebraska teams better than 2001 Miami.

Again, take away the idea of them being draft picks and they are a 97 Nebraska team based on what they did on the field. Only 97 Nebraska played 2 top 5 teams.

You bring up BC and Vatech for Miami, two teams that finished the season ranked Yet ignore 97 Nebraska’s 3 point hang on at 5 win Colorado? Stop blaming draft picks and bias for your pure stupidity towards 2001 Miami.

I don't ignore Colorado, they have been talked about a bunch in this thread. Blaming draft picks and bias? LOL That's a fucking laugh.

If you didn't know anything about the 01 Miami team and all the draft picks and just look at the stats and what they did and who they did it against, you would say 'they were a good team', no one would even mention them in the realm of greatest of all time, just like 97 Nebraska.

Stating otherwise is a straight up lie and you know it. You know it, because you can't point to anything they did that would garner that level of talk without mentioning the draft picks because that is the sole reason that team is ever talked about. I'm not saying 97 Nebraska would beat 01 Miami, Idk, but I think it would be close and I would not be surprised to see either team win. Nor am I claiming that 97 Nebraska is in the discussion for GOAT.

You call it stupidity, ok, then point to some things that demonstrates how this team stands out from other undefeated national championship level teams WITHOUT mentioning the draft picks/players. The best thing you can say is that they had a really good defense, but even with that.... I can name a bunch of defenses better and from more dominate teams.

I am guessing that you are too timid for this bet?

It's amusing that a school with moments like this:

and this:

has to delude themselves into believing they stood a chance with the mighty Cornhuskers.

So, you are going to other years against other teams to prove that Michigan would have lost to Nebraska in 1997. Did you learn this from Biden?
