Friends from here are BYU alumni. They went to Waco Saturday and said at least 40% of the stadium was blue and white. I asked him if BYU fans traveled that well all the time. He said very few of them were from Utah. Most were like them...alumni that live in Texas with the majority of them from DFW, Austin, San Antonio and Houston. BYU to the Big 12 may help both of them....at least when they head to TCU and Baylor. Lubbock, maybe not so much. Not sure how many alumni they'll have close to the other Big 12 locations. The DFW group could get to Stillwater easily.

Poor Spencer Rattler. He made a nice chunk of money off the new NCAA Name, Image, Likeness rule, but here we are on October 20 with the Oklahoma Sooners 6-0 and the now-backup quarterback has officially removed ‘OU’ from his Instagram bio.

Someone is not playing a good teammate.

No player, however talented he is, is worth it if he's toxic in the locker room. Two things: Caleb Williams isn't kinda, maybe more talented than Spencer Rattler; he is way more talented and he is showing it. And the other thing nobody wants to even think about is both players are the same color so the race BS doesn't play any role in this situation. So, we do hope Rattler stays for the rest of this season if he has his head on straight but if that isn't the case then he can kick rocks. Riley's just got to get off the dime and start recruiting another water walker. We don't have the D to win a NC this year anyway. I just want whoever is the QB to play well and let's get the O back on track......which it looks like OU is finally accomplishing. The SEC is waiting on us. We need to be ready for them. It's a process.

Caleb "hosted" a recruit at the RRSO, then walked out on the field when called upon and won the fucking thing.

I haven't heard if Spencer has had the time to host any recruits since his demotion. :rolleyes2: I just hope he's smart enough to not xfer to another B12 school.

University of Arizona's savior?

My feelings have changed a lot about how OU and Texas should handle this. I was all in favor of being Mr. Nice Guy and trying to do everything to calm the waters and salve people's feelings. Now I feel like the Hateful 8 can go F themselves. I don't care if we ever play Jr. again either which I never would have said before all the "poor me" and "OU is mean to us" talk got started. Bowlsby did a series of interviews in Tulsa a couple of days ago and he says he is baffled why OU would leave the Big 12. He can't fathom why OU and Texas decided to join the SEC. Spare me. Put it all together and let the Big 12 become a second fiddle with a couple of decent (far from great) programs and a handful of bottom feeders. Sayanora. We can't get out of this clusterfuck fast enough. In the meantime, the Hateful 8 just wants to keep freeloading.

What do you expect Bowlsby to say? He is in damage control mode and trying to pump up what is left the best he can. If the playoff expands to 12 teams an automatic birth isn’t out of the question for them.

His biggest mistakes in my opinion are that he should have grabbed Boise State and Air Force when they were talking about moving and he should have grabbed Memphis instead of Houston.

Other than that he has played the hand he was dealt the best he could. The Big 12 was going to fold the moment you lost Nebraska, Texas A&M, Colorado and Missouri. It wasn’t if, it was when. The LHN didn’t help anything either.

I am kind of in the view that both sides are both right and wrong here. There really isn't a correct side.

I stand by my view that the Big12 was dead (at least as we knew it) the day Colorado and Nebraska left. This destabilized the league heavily and OU lost one of its two main historic rivalries. The Big12 just hasn't been the same since then.

OU and Texas (even in the original Big12) were the top 2 programs but the original Big12 lost arguably its 3-6 programs from a historic perspective. Sure, programs like Oklahoma State have had a very great run in the modern era but they are NOT Nebraska, Texas A&M, or even what Colorado was in the 1990s. Losing Missouri didn't help as well since you lost a state with two major media markets (St Louis and Kansas City, although KC is arguable split between states and might have more of a KU basketball following then MU following).

This scenario (along with fall of Big East) kind of makes me wish that College Sports were more centrally ran rather than ran by a conference. From an athletic perspective, the original Big12 was a strong and successful league.
