I'm happy they just got it out of the way one way or the other. Now they can focus on the last two games and the recruiting trail isn't full of mystery.

No more excuses. Need to either get Smothers up to speed in a hurry or go find a grad transfer QB in the portal. And something needs to be done on the offensive line. Not sure what exactly though.
 
Nebraska has definitely played better this year, though obviously that has not translated record wise. 5 of their 7 losses are by 7 points or less and all 7 are by less than 10 points. I think the fact that they appear to be at least "close" to being on track is probably why they arent firing him after this year.

With just average (not even good) special teams play I bet they've got at least 2 more wins.

Starting over from square one with a new coach and staff would have sucked.

It may be inevitable anyway, but like you said I'm glad they didn't leave the next 3 weeks to suspense.

If for no other reason than recruiting. This upcoming class already needs some help and having a cloud loom over the future wouldn't make the job any easier.

Damn, I just took a deep look at Wisconsin's roster. We are going to be loaded the next 2-3 years. Book mark it.
