Texas to use non profit charity to pay Offensive Linemen 50k a year

This Is both smart and concerning to a little guy. (My program)

kiss parity goodbye

:facepalm5:
wait LSU booster got busted paying almost or around 200k for an OL.. that they took from a childrens hospital. This has been going on for a long time, Texas is just doing it legally

This is how it will all end up. Every school will have a dedicated booster non-profit that will pay players to come play. In return the players will have to 'agree' to community appearances or something that aren't ever enforced.

In 10 years we will have contracts for kids to play at schools for 2 years, and it will be the true NFL minor leagues.

it's been minor leagues for a long time. Texas is just doing this legally, out in the open. Which is great, cutting out the "uncles" or "trainers" and giving the money straight to the players

Agree. Which is why I think this is just how things will go from now on.

Wonder if we will see less and less football schools now that they can pay players

FWK (foot work king) and this dallas area trainer.. aren't happy with what was announced.. so I'm guessing this is a good thing

I think we will still see the same number of football schools, but there will be a larger gap between the top conferences/teams and the rest.

Who is foot work king? I don't follow.

It's not the schools, this is from alumni and even @fordman84 hated group "Tee-shirt fans" who are putting up the money for these things. School has nothing to do with any of this other than compliance by making sure the players aren't getting jerked.

This deal was put together by some brilliant assholes on surly.. they tested it with Burnt Ends (TE room, which i too donate monthly). And they got this one together. Best part is that former athletes are jumping on board. And right now the 50k per each OL, will only go up in the near future. Not a bad incentive to be on scholarship and getting 150k a year

Yeah very true... Texas with it's massive TV contract might get more players...

Texas
Bama
OKState
OK
Michigan
USC
LSU

again, this has nothing to do with the school revenue, TV contract.. Schools don't give out NIL deals

This was the slippery slope that has been talked about. College football opened a can of worms and now those supposed amateur players will be paid athletes moving forward. This could be the end of college football as we knew it, or it might end this NIL situation. This is not how this was supposed to work, but a loophole was found apparently.

Oh.. Look who just decommitted from Oregon...
