OK, looks like that huge Chinese real estate company Evergrande has defaulted on its debt. Lots of investors and funds here hold stock in that company. They should have got out a couple of months ago. There could be a global effect.

I read about it quite a bit. The exposure wasn't as much as initially feared. There are only a dozen or so mutual funds holding a significant # of Evergrande bonds. It's just another junk bond that shit the bed and some funds will see a 2% drop as they write-off these.
China loves fucking over western investors. I had clients in a shipping stock with a big div years ago. It only did long-term leases and was really solid. But they leased 2 ship to some Chinese company. Well, the chinese fuckers declared bankruptcy for no reason and opened with a new name the next month - which screwed everyone they leased a ship or building from. It happens all the time.

I told my cousin that I'm going to fly to LA and I'll meet them there since I'm the only one in my car anyway. She says, "Katie & Jake said they'll drive with you if you want".
