I gotta call bullshit. My wife is Asian. Not surprisingly, her whole family is Asian. At least half of our friends are Asians. ALL of them use rice cookers. If every Asian I know uses one, then that’s gotta be the way to make rice.
We got three. Two seem fine and one died within a week. Honestly, I think it’s been dead for a day or two now but they kept insisting that “they saw it move”

Put rice in rice cooker. Rinse until water is clear. Add water until the water level reaches the first knuckle on your ring finger with your finger touching the rice. Push button down. Do something else until it pops over to warming mode.My mother was Asian and the reason they use a rice cooker is that it helps her achieve cooked rice that is, not sure if this is the correct term for rice but al dante. They prefer the rice to be sticky so that it adheres to chopsticks. Not me, I don't like rice that you can form into a fuckin snowball. Now that style of rice may be perfect from an Asian perspective but not from mine.
So easy to make rice - 2 C of water for every C of rice. Bring to a boil, lower the heat to simmer cover and cook for 15 minutes. Voila.
Fifteen people were arrested as part of a catalytic converter theft ring. They recovered over 1,500 of them from recycling centers that knowing bought the stolen goods plus cash & some illegal guns.
I think all but 1 were released the next day because of our bail "reforms". What a fucking joke![]()

Asians usually use a medium grain (like calrose) and that gives it the puffier, stickier texture. Using a long grain gives a more separated finish. Short grain is what they usually use for sushi rice specifically so it sticks together. My mother was Asian and the reason they use a rice cooker is that it helps her achieve cooked rice that is, not sure if this is the correct term for rice but al dante.
