Caleb Williams

Let's call Muleshoe's leaving and Brent Venables replacing him The Great Experiment. LR was a helluva coach who almost guaranteed OU 1-2 loss seasons and consistent conference championships. But even the best marriages can fail. Things got stale, grass looked greener on the other side of the fence and here we are. Most OU fans doubted we would be successful in the SEC with LR. He must have thought that too apparently. So now we start over in The Great Experiment with Brent Venables and a new staff. It might get better; it might even get worse. Or maybe nothing much will change and OU will still be a 10-2 or 11-1 team that can't get over the CFP hump. LR forced the issue by leaving and I'm like most OU fans who are just eager to see how it all turns out.
The most realistic and level headed post about LR leaving I've seen in a while. :suds:

Didn't see any of you saying that before he left.
true. @Wishbone within the last year was talking about how Riley and OU would win the SEC east every year if only they were over here. :pound:

It more like an open secret. OU was giving up waaaay too many points for a lot of us to feel we would be able to compete in the SEC. Oh yeah we would win a lot of games in the SEC but beating the best teams to get to the top of the conference did not look realistic so long as the D was so !@#$ weak. And then the O started to slip a bit. Everything was still strong enough to recover and rule the Big 12 but the future was.......the SEC. Hmmmm. Then LR left and the questions now have to be answered with a new coaching staff whether OU likes it or not. But rest assured; there was plenty of concern about OU's team depth, talent level and coaching before LR forced the issue.

Did you see those 2 teams play last night? They looked like NFL teams on defense. Lol Riley was never going to give us that. Venables has beaten Bama and has Nattys. He has a much better chance of getting OU over the hump.
on the other hand.. Lincoln's offense may have been a bit more dangerous, no? I know they struggled this season, but bringing back Caleb and having Raleek Brown stick would seem to be pretty lethal.

Sucked that Bama lost it's two best WRs, but that's the way the games goes at times

They're all doing that. One of the best things about this has been the meltdown of the Sooners.
No meltdown, we are better off and know it. Sooner fans knew something was wrong all year, and we were right. It’s all good.

20 whole years? Man that’s a long time.
relax, @fordman84 is celebrating recruiting title as a MNC/CFP championship.. In his credit, he wasn't alive the last time so he can't act like he's been there before (cause NO ONE was)

No you didn't, y'all were all washing Rileys balls until he kicked you to the curb.

Not in any way, but invent your stories if you need to.

It can be tough when you realize you have become a stepping stone school. :dhd:
12 - 19 record and 0 - 77 beatdown by a stepping stone school. :dhd:

Here is @SoonerC "knowing something was wrong" and feeling "better off":
If you want to make a living betting against Riley’s offenses you are not going to do well.

Riley is a man among boys when he is on his game calling plays. Best in the country.

Hush with that talk but yeah, I mean Kingsbury is and he isn’t half the coach Riley is.

Oh I’m just saying Florida people can’t put all the blame on their d coordinator. Riley makes most look like children.

So they had the actual guy who made this flight on the radio, kind of as a joke. He and his wife were returning home from visiting their daughter who goes to OU. They had their dog with them. The guy agreed with the suggestion to change the dogs name to Lincoln Riley to help with future rumors. It comes down to this, no OU coach has ever left the program for a job at another college, it’s not happening.

Oh look, the OU guy goes back over a decade to pull up a game instead of the last time we met.

Holler at me when A&M cracks the top 20 again.

See this is why it's going to be great in another year when UT..oh wait, sooners are poor.. it'll be great in a couple more years when we are all back together playing against one another in the SEC

Jexas won't be able to handle being told to sit down and STFU. Thus the reason for the fee to leave the SEC.
