Big 12 thread

Easy to say when you CAN'T, homie.

The SEC and ESPN knew there's a pattern of tejas negotiating with two fingers crossed behind their back.

The funniest part was the Big 12 incorporating in Delaware as opposed to incorporating in Irving, Texas.

That's the first card tejas tried to play when they tried to get out of the Big 12 media rights penalty. A Delaware judge would slap them fucking silly.
If Texas wanted to, it can back out, schools have backed out with exit fees before.
That Gov of rights in Delaware isn't scaring anyone, Texas is ready to pay whatever to leave (which will be negotiated down). ou on the other hand will now actually pay. Them getting jettisoned by LR has invigorated the program.
you guys dumping that shit longhorn network for this?
oh the same network you decided against when it was originally for the conference?
When this whole thing started we were told that 'tejas would pay a minimum penalty' and that they'd force the Big 12 to take what they can get.

How'd that work out? LOL
LOL how much you want to bet that UT won't stay in the big12 til the '25 season?

Thanks for the inside info, mang.

It's actually ESPN that will be dumping it. It's been ESPN getting fucked in the ass on it.

You can be sure tejas would like to collect the SEC payouts + LHN if they could.
lol they haven't been losing money on it.. they been making money on it as of late.. of course they would be in the red when it started, this was the guinea pig prior to them starting the SEC network

Shit on the LHN all you want, it was over a 300 mil deal, and they didn't even need nebraska or any other school to pull that money in.. ESPN wanted UT so badly that it just gave them a blank check, did they do that for NU? no.

It's all good though, we are heading to another conference to tear apart

Well Nebraska announced it's membership to the Big 10 in June of 2010.

The LHN didn't launch until August 2011.

yeah, they didn't exactly agree to it on the launch date... which was a clusterfuck.. ESPN was demanding the same amount as it's other channels on cable. I was just lucky that Verizon agreed to carry it on their ultimate package a year later.

I'll bet Texas lasts in the SEC about 10 years and will then go Independent. Just a hunch but I don't think UT is nearly as good of fit in the SEC as Oklahoma will be. The state and people of Oklahoma are a lot like people from Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, etc. but Texas? Not really. There will be culture clashes that eventually rub people raw. OU and Texas co-exist because we know each other so well and have a grudging respect for each other. But the schools in the SEC don't have a history of dealing with Texas day in and day out. Except for aTm and you can go ask their opinion.

nah, we'll be there for the long haul. Fit in pretty well with baseball and the fact that travel is much easier than what we currently have. ou in Dallas, aggy on thanksgiving, arkansas every other year in TX.. Can't really get better than that. Only thing that sucks is Mizzu being there.. that is a shitty road trip (KC sucks, both sides too)

Travel will be much easier in the SEC then now? Huh? Aside from us and maybe ISU every single other school is closer then 75% of the SEC.

Travels easier lololololol

Big XII talking about how they wanna form divisions with Oklahoma and Texas for when the new schools join. a couple years of overlap before they jump to the SEC.
Saw that...which is dumb as shit IMHO. Divisions suck because we've seen significant imbalance from them. Bad enough that conferences are too large to have balance schedules...much less divisions.

yeah BR, Fayetville, B/CS, Dallas.. all much easier trips and better than going to Manhattan.. Go knock yourself out going there or aimes or cincinnati or utah.. sounds like i'll really be missing out :(

** Edit, did you know that Baton Rouge is closer to Austin than stillwater OK? and Fayetteville is closer than ksu or ku or isu or morgantown..

Yeah, that’s 4 games. One of which you already play. Are you under some delusion you will only be playing those teams? And besides Isn’t Missouri supposed to be in your pod supposedly?

Get the fuck out with this nonsense. What you stated was wrong. Right now you play at least 6 conference games in Texas, do you really think you’ll be playing that many yearly in the SEC? Answer something right for once.

Neat, are those the only 2 games you are playing?

Did you know Austin to Waco or Fort Worth is closer then to Dallas?

But But But “easier travel” lolololol

Having no divisions and the top 2 teams in the Big Xii play in the CCG is the BEST thing that the Big Xii has done over time. I didn't like it at first, but it makes for a much better conference schedule that is still important until the last weekend for multiple teams - since both spots are in play. That being said, I like the teams that Iowa State is with in their new division - the other Big 8 teams: Okla. State, KU and K-State and the 2 most interesting new teams: BYU and Cincinnati.

holy moly man the inner scorned woman is exposing herself here

Likely schedule..
games in TX
ou in dallas
aggy

2 OOC games at home

arky every other year

mizzu every other year

This is going by the rumored pod system.

But ask any Horns fans and they will tell you they won't miss playing/traveling to FtWorth, Waco or dare I say, Lubbock? So forgive me if I think that playing in the SEC conference will do wonders for us traveling wise when those schools usually travel as does UT when on the road.

Again enjoy being the odd one in the NorthEast that no other conference wants to touch, I'm glad you have a new rival in UC/BYU/UCF that will be sure to pack your stadium

round robin has always been the best way, the only bad thing to come out was the CCG. But it was necessary in order to give the conference a better shot at making the CFP.

It would be nice if the SEC adopted this, but with 16 schools, there will be a lot of complaining when it comes to tie breaking rules imo. I think the ACC now does this too IIRC (top 2 schools regardless of division?)

Aww I definitely hit a nerve with Mr “Texas will win the B12 within 2 years” circa 2019 guy.

I figured you’d go this route. Im not bad mouthing or blaming texas for leaving. I’m calling out your incredibly stupid remark that travel will be easier For Texas in the SEC.

Texas right now has all but 2 conference opponents (7) that are within 700 miles. They might have 4 while in the SEC. In no way will it be easier, it was just an incredibly stupid thing to say, but not shocking you would say it.

So enjoy being the has been underachiever while simultaneously being the SECs newest bitch and pretending Texas is more important then they truly are.

lol u haven't hit a nerve at all man.. shit all the big 12 schools could be within 300 miles and it's still wouldn't be better than UT traveling to Arkansas, Baton Rouge, Oxford, Nashville, etc

I was in Fayetnam this past season.. yeah we got whipped but you should have seen the amount of hog fans that HATED us.. they were cool to and were happy we are coming back.. to finally play a "real rival"

So despite all the close opponents, SEC conference is a better fit. Having Arkansas, Aggy every other season on the home schedule is worth it alone. You really think Baylor, TCU, Tech, WV, KSU really drives the tix sales?

By the way Travel will be MUCH easier, you can sell going to Knoxville, Gainsville, Athens, Oxford, hell even South Carolina to the UT fanbase.. Which was a huge reason they didn't give the BiG conference much consideration even though they are known as the academic conference. Games in WI, MN, Iowa? YAY :(

although NW wouldn't be so bad in September/October.. but hell we probably would have been playing them in November smh.

You said and I quote “TRAVELING WILL BE EASIER“ thats what this little discussion is about.

Stop trying to move the goalposts to competition and college towns. That wasn’t the argument, it was that bullshit comment about travel. If you’d like to take that back you are more then welcome too.

It won’t be easier, it may be more fun but won’t be easier.
