Big 12 thread

It won’t be easier, it may be more fun but won’t be easier.
ahh gotcha.. it's funner because shit man.. we actually playing regional rivals again and playing our in state rival again.

I have no doubt it’s hella more fun the thought to play at Rocky top or visit the grove and Tuscaloosa compared to now.

But let’s be honest you are picking up 2 rivals (arky and A&M) while losing 3 others (Baylor, Tech and TCU). No doubt after OU Aggy is the most important but it’s not like near your whole damn schedule will be regional rivals.

that's the thing.. Baylor, Tech, TCU, UH, SMU.. aren't real rivals like that.. i mean to them we are but to Horns fans like me, they aren't. Growing up it was ou, ark, and aggy.. that's the list. If you group those other schools, then it must mean Rice too is a rival?

The 3 i mentioned are more of rivals then anyone else in the SEC not named Aggy, arky or OU. Pretending Tech and Baylor aren’t rivals but suddenly Texas‘ whole conference schedule would be made up of regional rivals is more bullshit. Asi said before, you are getting your most important rival after OU back, but you are losing 3 and replacing them with not rivals. That’s another thing you bringing up rivals was kind of silly.

don't know what to tell you other than those aren't rivals man.. But that's the thing, it's UT so they have to be rivals right? Anyone ever say that about aggy? Is baylor or smu their rival ? Guess Marshall and whatever other FCS West Va school is your rival too huh?

You could have stopped at “don’t know”. It would have fit perfectly in this conversation. You pretending you are going to play a schedule full of regional rivals when you are dropping 3 actual rivals is funny. Yes I’m sure your bouts with the Mississippi schools and Kentucky and Tennessee will bring back wonderful memories what rivalries they are lolz.

And yes, marshal is our rival. It’s really not hard to understand.

By the way Travel will be MUCH easier, you can sell going to Knoxville, Gainsville, Athens, Oxford, hell even South Carolina to the UT fanbase.. Which was a huge reason they didn't give the BiG conference much consideration even though they are known as the academic conference. Games in WI, MN, Iowa? YAY :(

although NW wouldn't be so bad in September/October.. but hell we probably would have been playing them in November smh.
You can sell going to those SEC locations "for the football game experience" to the fan base a hell of a lot better than Lubbock, Waco, Stillwater, etc. But, for "destination travel" Starkville, Mississippi ain't a better sell than Manhattan, Kansas...may be worse. (Except there are casinos in Mississippi.) If you take out the football games, the only one on your list that is a travel destination is Nashville...and people might just skip the Texas/Vanderbilt game on that one and enjoy Nashville. Hell, Fort Worth is a better travel sell than Gainsville or Athens.

So the move is better for the football travel experience only IMHO.

Nope...but Tech and Rice have been known to get under their skin even more than your rusty cows do.

Tech is the latest to do so because they had the audacity to open a second Texas Vet school in Amarillo. How dare them. :laugh3:

lol y'all think we are a rival now too, but they are not.. we have history playing those programs but they were never viewed as a rival.. Playing aggy again>those schools together. You think the stadium would have had trouble selling out vs them rather than when Baylor or TCU rolled in? Please..

Tech had a good streak vs them before the realignment came.. and yes they are upset about the Vet school. My daughter wants to be a vet but our trip to Lubbock last spring, gave her pause about attending there lol

@Red_Alert Listening to a pod and they are talking about how ESPN is starting to put pressure on the Big 12 to let UT/ou go early. I didn't realize this, but they have been pushing their basketball games to ESPN plus instead of it's usual day spots on ESPN (now featuring SEC schools).

you are still arguing you will play a schedule full of regional rivals. that’s just not true, you pick up 2 and keep 1 while losing 3 others. But yes, continue to think this stupidity.

wait when did i say a schedule full of rivals when we only have 3.. which will all be in the SEC? After a few meetings, LSU most likely will be one fwiw.

UT won't go independent, they fit in well with the SEC in the big 3 sports

Having no divisions and the top 2 teams in the Big Xii play in the CCG is the BEST thing that the Big Xii has done over time. I didn't like it at first, but it makes for a much better conference schedule that is still important until the last weekend for multiple teams - since both spots are in play. That being said, I like the teams that Iowa State is with in their new division - the other Big 8 teams: Okla. State, KU and K-State and the 2 most interesting new teams: BYU and Cincinnati.
it made sense to do it the way it is right now with 10. it makes sense to go to divisions with 12 or more.
so far there is nothing set for divisions. east and west or north and south are the likely because it makes most sense. not sure it changes the teams drastically

it makes sense to me. there are rivals then there are media rivals. rivals that the media and talking heads try to increase the heat for story lines.
Oregon is rivals with Oregon state and Washington.
Oregon and Stanford got pushed as a rivalry because of a series of games where the winner was winning the North and likely the conference. but it never felt like a rivalry

You continue to act like you are picking up a schedule full of regional rivals.

Did you really just say LSU will be a rival after a few meetings yet tech, Baylor and TCU aren’t?

Umm ok, didn’t once mention independence for Texas.

yes LSU would be a better "rival" since it's a border state.. I think you are the only one who keeps thinking TCU and Baylor are some sort of real rival to UT. We've played both thanksgiving day and they were giving away tix to try and fill up the place.. what a rival

Let me get this straight, LSU “because it’s a border state” is going to be a rival yet Baylor and TCU both who are almost 100 miles from Austin wouldn’t because reasons?????

You’ve played A&M thanksgiving and I’m sure they gave tickets away for that too, is that not a rival?

Thank you for indirectly admitting tech is a rival. That was getting funny considering that rivalry has a trophy.
