Big 12 thread

They will change their minds as soon as their budgets are slashed and they are desperate for money.
If they do spitefully cut it off for a few years and then come back because they obviously need the money, I hope Joe Castiglione or whoever is the OU AD says "Fine, but the cut is going to be 55% Oklahoma/45% Oklahoma State----take it or leave it".

I mean, that’s what SHOULD be on their mind NOW.
OU (or Texas with team _____) could be the one who says “thanks but no thanks we don’t want the risk , our conference slate is tough enough” and it will be so ..programs left in the “G6” or whatever might be left to fend for thyself for interesting matchups like that one.

Jr. is a moron if they kill Bedlam. It would be like a 13 year old girl who has her panties in a twist. Maybe they don't win that often in football but overall Jr. is very competitive and the fans of both schools love the games. And the money involved; are they actually stupid enough to take that kind of financial hit? :tsk:

Yeah I really don’t see Junior sticking to cancelling bedlam. They just have hurt feels now but they’ll come around and that game will be played as it should. If nothing else for the money.

If they don’t then they’re retarded and WVU will offer to lose to you yearly like we excel at now but only after we are done losing to the ACC crap on our OOC.

The quality of the new Big 12 is definitely P not G. It's not on par with the SEC or the B1G, but it is definitely on par or above the Pac and ACC. Just in the last two years, Iowa State (Fiesta), Oklahoma State (Fiesta) and Baylor (Sugar) have WON NY6 Bowl Games. Can you even imagine the Pac 12 or ACC having two teams make - let alone win TWO NY6 Bowl Games? The Football quality and commitment is there.
While I believe the quality of the new conference you could make an argument is better then some other P(s), the lack of a blueblood/national brand is going to hurt it. Payouts will be down a bunch and we’ll most likely be stuck on a G status fair or not.

The key is getting that 12 team‘er through (is it dead until 25 or what?) and then we can usually get at least 1 team in most years.

Texas doing something provocative to LSU? That game will sell itself, 2019 meeting showed that.

I know that osu is not renewing Bedlam once ou leaves the conference.. I'm guessing all the current schools in the Big12 will not schedule UT or ou for the considerable future. Even though I think Tech will play UT every few years or so, since they didn't go scorch earth when the news dropped last summer like the other Texas schools did.

But now that UT and ou are heading into it's final season in the Big12, wonder if this allows ISU/KSU/OSU/KU to renew it's big 8 matchups with Mizzu and NU?

How much longer is the Big 12/SEC Sugar Bowl agreement good for?

TX/OU are "Heading into their final season in the Big 12"? ........ Link?

Through 2026 according to SI

Another site says through 2025

I imagine the contract is null and void when Texas and OU leave but maybe not. I hope not.

i'm not sure how much longer the sugar bowl agreement is but it won't be renewed for sure...

Link for Texas leaving after this season..

Why would it?

The contract is with the Big 12 as an entity, not TX/OU.

Not likely to be renewed upon expiration tho.

You don’t think the fiesta would claim said entity changed?

I would think you are right but I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s argued the entity changed when OU/Underachiever left.

Scheduling and I'm interested to see if the ..... whatever kind of conference (P5 or super/mega whatever they will call themselves) do with their networks. For example if you are the SEC/BIG and you have those networks and you dominate the major networks time slots, do you (and the partners) make a deal of some kind with the "little guys" MAC,CUSA,MWC ect. or even the new Big12 for some content? More eyeballs/advertising dollars for or live CFB games so maybe a few more midweek night games on conference networks? I dunno but have to figure that the "little guys" are going to have to scratch n claw for any money they can.
I think you are correct. They're already closer to FCS than the big boys right now. Me thinks they'll even get closer.

Meant Sugar, that was my bad.

I feel like you knew what I meant though.

Well Baylor played in it this year. Why didn't the Sugar Bowl committee claim the entity changed because OU or TX weren't there?

I expect they'll just let it expire if the remainder of the Big 12 doesn't stay competitive in it.

Because OU and Underachiever were still in the conference. The same reason they won’t claim it changed for the 2022 season. OU and Underchiever could still make it. If OU and Underachiever aren’t in the B12, the sugar can claim the entity of the B12 has changed.

Well, then the Sugar Bowl can write the Big 12 a nice check along with OU and TX.

I’d rather they stick with their commitment/contract.

And that was to all you just stated

You're the one implying they won't.

I'm saying they will stick with it, but you keep arguing otherwise.
Are you under some impression OU/Underachiever are going to be in this conference past this next(2022/2023) season?

And then the Sugar Bowl will argue said “entity” has changed and will try and drop the B12 in the matchup.

If the first thing happens I don’t see the next thing not.

I personally don't give a flying fuck. It's not worth arguing about.

Contracts are contracts and the Big 12 is incorporated in Delaware.
If TX/OU or the Sugar Bowl want to break their contracts with the Big 12 then let them pay out their asses, because they'll have to.
