Big Ten Basketball

Gophers are 1-8 in their last 9 with few moral victories. I'm still liking what I'm seeing out of the team and coaching staff

We also have been playing a pretty tough B1G schedule.

They got some nice incoming freshman, get transfer PG and I think they'll be in decent shape next season

Not really, sometimes people get predictions wrong. Happens all time.

The Badger roster outside of davis is rather limited and his emergence is big reason they're doing well

The fact is that Davis has been in a slump recently but the team is still winning.

yes, but in davis slump they've played bottom teams

Once again, you're changing the narrative.


But yes, wi is doing better than expected. They gradauted a lot of players and their roster outside of Davis isn't that talented

You are talking in circles. They won the games against top ranked teams with Davis playing really well(because hes really fucking good). Thats why Wisco was underrated, no one expected him to be this good.

You said they are "still winning with him slumping"

Pink panther correctly pointed out that its been against bottom feeders and they got pasted by the one good team with a slumping Davis

You then went back to the overall record. Which wasnt being argued.

You support a losing team so I guess throwing shade at the Wisconsin team must make you feel better.
 
I don't think Wisconsin is as good as its record. The thing they have going for them is the ability to win close games.
 
I just can’t get on the wagon with this Illinois team. They are deep tho. Wouldn’t be surprised if we get blown out tonight at Purdue. But Underwood doing a good job as usual as we enter the last month of b-ball.

They are like an old school 1950-70s b-ball team. They pass well and follow their shot, play decent defense, but they don’t light it up from the outside. Johnny Davis seems way overrated but I’ve only seen him play once.
Just seems the big 10 is down this year but the bar was set high last year. Even tho no one got far in the tourney.

Big 12 and Pac 12 have some really crazy good athletic teams. Not impressed with Auburn and I think they get bounced fairly early

But rmilia is definitely right that a lot of defense does come down to effort and intensity as well as physical limitation of certain players. And the effort and intensity is something that can really offset those limitations.

When I decided I wanted to coach basketball, my old high school coach told me I needed to go to school at UTEP and sit through Don Haskins' practices. (I had to stay in state.) Haskins was defensive minded and I picked his brain when I had the chance...usually when he came down to hunt. One thing I remember him saying was the best defensive teams he had were comprised of a bunch of guys that loved to irritate people..and each other. They took that thrill of being an irritating pain in the ass to the defensive end of the court and actually loved playing it.
