They want to make more money, obviously. But people are staying home and watching on TV in some places. In others, they don't care as much. Need to do something, but the ACC has their thumb up their ass The Alliance going over the edge with them.

I'm sure covid has nothing to do with it. Stfu
Moron alert ...

- For this past year they compared to 2019, not 2020, because they are smart enough to know that 20 was Covid.
- The other numbers go back to 2014 and skip 2020, because, again, they are smart enough to skip Covid year 2020.

Of course, if you had even given a cursory look at what I posted you would see this but you were in such a hurry to look like a dumbass you didn't even read the damn post.

So, yeah, Covid has nothing to do with this, dimwit.

In 2021, only the Big Ten experienced attendance gain among the Power Five conferences. Michigan led the country in attendance for the fifth year in a row and for the 21st time in the last 22 seasons.
don’t know what the problem is?

this past season was covid too..

And if you take out the 2020 covid shortened season.. this past CFP final was the lowest rated as far as TV audience.

I think a 12 school playoff will do better numbers than typical bowl games, but not sure how it really impacts stadium attendance throughout the season. People got real comfortable at home with the lockdown and social distancing.. but even with that, people seem to be not tuning into CFB as much either.

CFB needs SC, UT to step it up the way UM did this past season.

Hmmm ... checks article on trend that started in 2014, and excludes 2020, the Covid year ... yup, Peter Gonads still a dimwit.

FYI ... they didn't include 20 in the numbers, ffs, read the damn article and information if you are going to get all pissy.

why read when you'll just come in and rant everything you read in cliff notes?

I wonder if there is a chart showing the average cost per game per person +/- % change by year.

Wonder if it's getting priced out of the market
I made the mistake of buying my Arkansas tix in April of last year.. I paid like $320 a ticket.. Come late August, early September.. Those seats near me were going for $160-$190 a ticket

I'm waiting til August to grab the Bama game ticket in Austin

wouldn't that indicate an increase in attendance/demand

When the prices drop that much?

I bet I could have gotten them lower if I waited til gameday.. Lesson learned

Looking at the article plus my own observations, it's a combination of it becoming regional, Bama/SEC fatigue, and cheap 70 inch TVs.

If tallied up the amount of money I spend on tickets and trips, the amount of money I could spend on a TV room would be obscene and I have some nice TV rooms already.

I think I am representative on one group - I don't pay for STs any more ... I either buy a fractional share, or more and more just go to the best games and buy really good seats on the 3rd party market, or get them from friends. I spend as much as I would if I bought season tickets, but I get to go to the games I want to go to, and get way better seats. The rest of the time I watch on very nice TVs we can all buy these days, eat my better food and drink my better drinks, etc.

Seriously, when you drop 10-15K per year, all you need to do is cut back 50% one year and drop 7-8K on your man cave. Now you can do some crazy things.

I've traveled a jillion miles over the years on planes and in cars and on trains to go see OU play. It was an expensive as hell hobby and I've got a lot of great memories. BUT those days are coming to a close. I will still support the athletic department financially but I'm finished with an attitude of "Gotta go support my team because I know they're playing their hearts out just like I would if I could be out there". I've known a lot of players at OU and trust me the whole damn thing is waaaaay different than it used to be. And no I didn't change; the players and the game changed. Now I've got to watch guys playing who think that just getting a free ride for a college education makes them a slave. They wanted MOAR! And they're getting it. Some of it's definitely justified but the NIL/Transfer Portal/Lebron James Wanna-Be attitude is turning me off. So I'll travel less, buy fewer tickets and let somebody else shell out for the meals, parking, etc., etc. I'm holding my breath they don't totally F the game up on top of a serious downturn in the economy which would totally smoke a lot of athletic departments. We'll see. Gimme a 12 team playoff; I'll watch every game.........at home unless OU's playing and I'll certainly drag my ass to those games.
