There was a game show on local TV (hell it was actually filmed nearby) when I was a kid called "Just Like Mom" where kids and their mothers competed as teams and in one of the rounds the mothers had to eat cookies that each of the kids had baked and guess which one was their kid's. Of course most of the kids figured out pretty quickly that the key to success was putting some overwhelming godawful shit in the recipe that their mom was sure to recognize. They claim that they scanned carefully for this type of thing but I remember seeing a lot of random bullshit getting dumped in.

I may be misinterpreting the recipe, but it sounds like you would never guess there is sauerkraut in the cake. Makes it like fudge or something?

Ive had cauliflower substituted for stuff like rice and bread before and told there was no difference, and it was awful. So this may be similar.
