Thirsty Thursday

Are they going to look into the sun? By way of disclosure, I routinely wore eye black when I was in Pop Warner, starting around age 9.
In tee ball, if they're looking into the sun, it's because they aren't paying attention. I can count on one hand the number of fly balls I saw in 2 years coaching tee ball.

and eye black ain't gonna make a difference

Think how much more distracted they’ll be if they lose that butterfly in the sun.

Clearly you're a shitty hitting coach.

I mean, it's a different world from when I played. I don't know if anyone brought a helmet to games. Now, I have one helmet in case someone forgets to bring theirs. Almost everyone has their own bat, too. There would be some kids that had bats, which flipped to everyone having their bats in high school.
wait, everyone has their own helmet now? shit, we had a few different sizes. and did are best to make do with them.

Buncha nasty blue helmets in an oversize canvas bag.

maybe that's just it...I never had a jersey with my name on it or home and away jerseys for a team...

these kids are loaded with just so much crap
baseball has gotten ridiculous. I saw something recently where there was a 7u interstate travel ball tournament. There were teams from states all across the country traveling for this damn thing.

Travel ball. For 7 year olds. Across the country.

the football uniforms for these kids are even more ridiculous.

Obviously. I'm saving the good lessons for my travel tee ball team.
You joke, but...

I think there's 9u around here. Can't fathom it. We didn't even do district tournaments before 10. I'm coaching 6-7 year olds now, and I can't imagine what a travel game of coach pitch looks like.

it's all about psyching out your opponent.
@guys pregame ritual for the kids?

I think we had an allstar team that would do district tournament around 10. Even then, my parents wouldn't let me do it because of their work and the time it took.

Seriously, I was surprised that they started tee ball at 4 (so some of the kids are 3 going on 4) here. I get that I'm old, but we were doing tee ball at 6 and 7, then doing coach/player pitch at 8. Now they have kids that just got out of diapers trying to field grounders.

I was on the district teams, but my dad wouldn't let me do the travel stuff. Also wasn't allowed to play fall ball until my junior and senior years of high school. Played different sports each season, and could only play one.

how much video are you watching of the other teams?
We only have one team in town, so we have to "travel" to play our games against the teams from the township.

I guess we're now #elite.
