I don’t think we gave players much money, honestly. I think we just gave them a nice car and got family members jobs. I don’t think Bryce got any money until NIL. I know we moved Tua Tagovailoas whole family here and got them jobs.

I doubt we ever gave a kid more than $100k

Bryce was like the first player in the country to get a huge NIL deal IIRC.

I know for a fact George Pickens and Nakobe Dean were paid handsomely to come to UGA and I’m sure others were two, those are just the only two confirmed by a source I trust

If college football does evolve into "a room full of millionaires looking out for #1" it will die a long lingering death. The DNA of most college fans is different from pro fans. Fan support will wither and donors will be harder to find if a school has to buy its players and then watch an orgy of greed and entitlement.

You go from 7-6 and losing to UL Monroe to get #1 recruiting class, have scandals regarding buying Textbooks, and boosters giving "jobs" to that class yet you want to whine about Texas A&M. I don't care what people say, I know Alabama paid players illegally during 2007-2009 timeframe. The evidence is there.

That's weak. Even for you, my friend. I've known many Aggies and Longhorns (I've drilled a lot of wells in Texas) but the attitude of "we can't recruit a NC and we damn sure can't coach a team to a NC so let's go buy one" is stereotypical Texan. It just won't work over the long term while at the same time it ruins the sport.

Wonder if it will take until the end of the week or if it will happen today, but there will likely be a lot of blowback on Saban here. Wonder how many out of the NFL players that have been recruited by him over the years might want to reset their 15 minutes with a story or two.
