Saban takes a MASSIVE shot at Jimbo.

I don't disagree in what Saban said in the other 99% of what he said. The "idea" of NIL was to give players the chance to make money off their likeness but we all knew this was going to turn into the bid war for players as we know of today and there's no way to police this. Sure coaches like Saban and Dabo can "morally" recruit using NIL the right way but practically they're in the position to never be fired from their school. I don't any other coach for using NIL as a recruiting tool because if you're not, you are left behind and looking for a job in a few years

That doesn’t sound as bad as it reads. He shouldn’t have named names but I think the media and twitter blew this way out of proportion

I guarantee Michigan isn't. Hell. One of the top transfers for basketball committed to UM until the administration wouldn't allow his credits to transfer from Texas Tech. So he went to Illinois. Same thing with Xavier Worthy -- he was committed and ready to enroll at UM and the administration wouldn't let him over some HS credits, so he withdrew and enrolled at Texas a week later.

Now there are teams buying recruits, but it is only a handful, as it isnt worth it for the rest of them, as one or two recruits isn't changing anything. They'd have to do what A&M did and buy an entire class.

If it gets you a national title -- it will be worth it. If they end up middle of the pack in the SEC, the money will dry up, and the recruits will go to where they can win titles.
Michigan was buying players by hiring their parents. They implemented a rule because of it. Get the fuck out of here with that “Michigan would never stoop to that” bullshit.

Wasn’t funny. Like at all
It was hilarious. I don't think any of us are surprised that you don't have a sense of humor.

They are currently touring. They did 2 nights in Athens and people who went said it was really good. They didn't leave anyone unharmed ... attacked UGA, Bama, etc.

He blew it out of proportion by singling out specific schools. He knew what he was doing.

I'd love to be able to listen in to the call from Saban to Jimbo. Wonder if it was "hey, I got worked up and said some shit about you and your school that I wish I hadn't".

Or was it "Did you see twitter yet? I just torched your ass, homie"

Meanwhile, ON the field, Jimbo but his foot in Saban and Bama’s arse…

I didn't say 'they would never stoop to that', I couldn't care less if a team is paying kid -- I said I wish UM would, with the booster money they have available to them, I GUARANTEE if they were buying recruits -- they'd have a hell of a lot better recruiting classes than they have had. I wish they were the one who bought the #1 recruiting class. I wish they raided the transfer portal like MSU does.

We lose guys who commit to UM over ridiculous shit. Xavier Worthy didn't qualify at UM for admission, but he can be admitted to Texas a week or two later? The Texas Tech basketball player gave a verbal to UM, but the administration won't accept his credits toward his degree, so he signs with Illinois. UM needs to get with the times and quit running their athletic programs as if these kids are all scholars.

A&M AD Bjork says they have filed a complaint with the SEC over Sabans comments. Good.

To which Saban should respond:

You are correct, I deserve to be investigated. So, let's get to the bottom of this complaint. Let's have ATM provide all the documents that were signed, a list of all communications between ATM and its agents (e.g. collectives). Require that the players meet with enforcement and tell them what happened, what has been promised, etc. Once you do that, then you can discipline me.

It would be the shortest complaint ever filed with the SEC.

Yup, that's how these things usually work.
"Yes your honor, I'll enter a plea as soon as you investigate that guy over there and find out everything he did. Then I'll let you get around to me".

My sense of humor is more in line with Beavis and Butt-head. Those peckerwoods are 10 ply

That's not remotely what I said. If ATM is saying that Saban should be punished for what he said about ATM, doesn't it make sense that Saban will say you better show me why what I said isn't right? If what Saban said is true, what are you punishing him for?

And the further point that went unsaid is that ATM wants no part of that.

No because Saban is guilty of violating SEC bylaws regardless if what he said is true or not.

You are missing my point ... yes, he violated a meaningless bylaw. If that's all they are going to do - slap on the wrist - he couldn't care less. If ATM tries to make a bigger thing out of it, then what I said applies.

Look, why doesn't ATM just say hell yeah, we used the rules to our advantage? Denying the obvious makes ATM and Dumbo look silly, IMO.

Because the implication is that A&M broke the rules. Even Saban is walking it back today because that is how he made it sound. A&M is saying they did everything by the letter, but there are certain things you just don't say publicly. No one gives a crap about how they look as long as you win.

So pretty much exactly what Saban said.
