2022 College Football Playoff Discussion Thread

Im hoping USC and TCU both win. I want no part of being in the playoff and getting embarrassed by UGA in the semi final.

I also think Bama is getting in over us anyway if TCU or USC lose.

Is it fair? Probably not? But there's a good chance of it happening.

Thing about this is; there will be a good possibility, if OSU gets in, they will be #4, and, imo, the cfpc will put Mich as the #1 seed. OSU and Mich would/could be first round.

If USC loses, imo, OSU gets in. At this point, a 2 loss Alabama will not get in. I believe they will not put a 2 loss bama in over a 1 loss TCU, when that loss will have come from being in the ccg.
......but when that group meets behind closed doors....................................

UGA will be the one seed if they win on Saturday. No way an undefeated SEC champ isn’t the top seed

Mich just finished beating the cfp #2 and then won the ccg. When the cfp rankings come out whenever they come out, it will be surprising to me if Mich is not #1.

edit
especially this week. Mich over the #2 team and UGA over GT. I really don't see how they couldnot put Mich as #1.

Eh I don't think UGA is falling from #1 unless they lost to LSU

It’s the entires resume. UGA is gonna have 4 CFP top 25 wins this year, and the 4 toughest opponents of the season saw the 4 best performances of the season. And say what you will about LSU, but they’re a better opponent than Purdue. As long as we’re in, I don’t really care about the seed, but I’d be pretty surprised if UGA isn’t the one seed

There aren't just two choices. It isn't either this list of tiebreakers or ignore a team.

I didn't have an issue with UW not being included because one of their losses was against a bad team. They had the worst loss of the three. That makes sense to factor in.

Putting Utah in over the team that just beat them 2 weeks ago is just dumb.
This makes NO sense.
You offer NO alternative.

The big 12 famously changed their tie breaker after 2008. But you didn’t even offer that.

Fucking paint chips.

UGA won't drop below #3 if they lose to LSU

No way are they going to have Michigan and UGA play in round 1 if TCU and USC are the other 2 teams. They'll hedge on getting that Michigan vs UGA national title game.

You are such a flaming dipshit.

It wasn't necessary to go through details. If you want to believe that their process is super awesome then you are welcome to it.

There are two more broad ideas in multi team tiebreakers: attempt to find the lowest terms to get down to 2 teams and then use the normal 2 team tiebreaker, like several pro leagues do etc, and then there's this hot mess that goes until there is a winner. Picking in the 4th tie based on overall SOS as a way to pick the winner is dumb. Had they done the exact same thing, only used SOS to rule out UW and then go to the head to head it would have came up with the correct answer.

The exact steps within each round of tiebreaker isn't the point.

This is a flawed method and that's my opinion.

In a past life were you one of the people visiting the colliseum to watch the Christians get thrown to the lions? So you’d revel in watching the Christians (or Trojans) get thrown to the bulldog?

No way. The committee would have the biggest boner for a potential tOSU - Michigan championship game that they would intentionally bump the buckeyes to 3 if they put michigan 1, just to avoid it in the first round.

Yeah. This. Just for ranking purposes, they gonna put Michigan at #1 just because Buckeyes could be #4. I don't see it. Michigan OOC schedule... ain't no way. I agree with you @Illustrious Potentate Georgia is undefeated SEC champs and fall from #1. Nope.

I wonder this: Let's say TCU loses a close game to Kansas State and Michigan loses to Purdue in a very close game. Will they drop TCU to 4th and Michigan to 3rd just so they don't have to deal with the whole Southern Cal/Ohio State/and any other team "funny business"?

Georgia isn't dropping from #1, no matter what Michigan did. They deserve the #1 ranking. I say this as a Michigan fan.

Georgia has earn the #1 position from the beginning of the year. They have done nothing to lose the spot.

I can see GA and MI wining this weekend, so they will be 1 & 2. I also see either USC or TCU losing, most likely is Utah beating USC, setting up the #5 team to get in, That could be Ohio State.
