2023 College Football TV Ratings

You do realize that 2/3 was asleep before the conference imploded and it will continue to be again with the realignment. Michigan will be playing games when it’s your bedtime
But almost all the games will be playing at reasonable times of the day in their new world order. Ever since the pac12 started almost all their games later like a decade ago, I stopped watching most of them. I might fall asleep to a random UCLA game but that’s it.

In week 4, Ole Miss vs. Bama is head to head with Colorado vs. Oregon. My guess is Oregon/CU does better. Might get 10 million+

They're both over-the-air broadcasts so it should be interesting seeing those numbers.

Ole Miss @ Alabama: CBS
Colorado @ Oregon: ABC

Are you saying that every home game for a west coast team is going to be given primetime?

No. I’m saying the B10 teams probably won’t be starting at 10pm ET very often if ever.

I thought that was the catch in grabbing them for that time slot?

I guess we'll see. I just doubt we'll be seeing many of those games happening in the conference schedule. I think the idea what that the B10 was going to dominate a variety of networks from 12ET -> 8pmET.

I think it depends on how good the teams playing are. I'm not seeing FOX, CBS, NBC, airing games played at 12 pm (ET) on the west coast, or 'PAC After Dark' (11 pm ET) type games.

Obviously scheduling will have USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington playing each other on the west coast. However, IF those teams maintain a decent level of play then they'll be put in the 3:30 pm (ET) and 7 pm (ET) timeslots for the viewership numbers to compete with the SEC and ESPN/ABC.

If one or more of those PAC teams has a big drop-off and are playing each other (or a lower level Big 10 team) out on the west coast, it's likely played on FS1 or CBSSN in that 11 pm (ET) slot.
I'm not seeing BTN carrying games in that time slot because they'll be on 'The Final Drive' showing highlights from the earlier games.

My guess, there is at least 1 game a week that's at 10:00/10:30.

FS1 or CBSSN sure.

I don't see it being on FOX, NBC, or CBS. They've got local news to get to.

I don't see BTN airing games like that either for that matter. BTN airs 'The Final Drive' at 11 pm (ET). The Final Drive is highlights of all of the earlier Big 10 games. They're not gonna air The Final Drive at 2 am (ET).

The FS1 10:30 pm (ET) game this week is Fresno St @ Arizona St.
The CBSSN 10:30 pm (ET) game this week is Kansas @ Nevada.
The PAC 12 Network 11 pm (ET) game this week is UTEP @ Arizona.

There would have to be a pretty big drop-off for either USC, UCLA, Oregon, or Washington for them to be aired in that timeslot. Even then, their opponent would be a lower level Big 10 team.

Same goes for those PAC teams hosting in the 12 pm (ET) timeslot. That's 9 am (PT) and too early for their fans out there. I don't see it happening on any channel.

why would they change the final drive time for? They can show highlights of the game up to that point

Aren't highlight shows fillers to try to draw a few extra eyes? Of course BTN would rather have a live game vs a highlight show if they care about viewership.

With 4 west coast teams you should expect 2 to have home games each week during the conf slate. They could pick their dog of the two and put them on later if they think it gives them any advantage over the competition in the earlier time slots.

Doesn't matter how good any of the 4 are. Are you really going to tune in for a Rutgers @ ranked USC? If you have Penn State at Oregon the same week you protect that game early and take what you think gets the most eyes on the lower game.

too early? Maybe for UW or the LA schools but based on the turnouts for CGD Oregon fans would for sure show out

Huh?

The Final Drive is it's own show and has highlights and analysis of all the games played that day.

If there's a game that starts at 10 pm or 11 pm (ET) on BTN then they won't be able to air The Final Drive until the game's over at 1 am or 2 am (ET).

lol they can give a quick analysis of what has happened to that point.. no need to move the show back.. they can always return and do a quick edit once the games are done for when it re-airs the next day. You know, like other shows like gameday final.

Maybe. I would think that games scheduled earlier (primetime or earlier) would have better ratings.

Those games will get better ratings. But Fox is going to want to put games on at 10:00/10:30 especially on FS1.
