2023 College Football TV Ratings

FS1 or CBSSN sure.

I don't see it being on FOX, NBC, or CBS. They've got local news to get to.

I don't see BTN airing games like that either for that matter. BTN airs 'The Final Drive' at 11 pm (ET). The Final Drive is highlights of all of the earlier Big 10 games. They're not gonna air The Final Drive at 2 am (ET).

Fox typically carries a couple 10:30 games. USC/Stanford this past week was one. So I do think they'll get a couple in that timeslot and FS1 will get a bunch more, and perhaps Peacock. CBSSN isn't going to carry B1G football.

Those games will get better ratings. But Fox is going to want to put games on at 10:00/10:30 especially on FS1.
yeah thought that was a big deal with the 10pm window. I know ESPN is going to want that window with Cal/Stanford in the ACC now or with AZ/ASU in the Big12 now too

The FS1 10:30 pm (ET) game this week is Fresno St @ Arizona St.
The CBSSN 10:30 pm (ET) game this week is Kansas @ Nevada.
The PAC 12 Network 11 pm (ET) game this week is UTEP @ Arizona.

There would have to be a pretty big drop-off for either USC, UCLA, Oregon, or Washington for them to be aired in that timeslot. Even then, their opponent would be a lower level Big 10 team.

Same goes for those PAC teams hosting in the 12 pm (ET) timeslot. That's 9 am (PT) and too early for their fans out there. I don't see it happening on any channel.

Before Oregon/UW joined Purdue and Rutgers were scheduled to play at UCLA in 2025, and IU was scheduled to play at USC. Those types of games will for sure get 10:00/10:30 treatment IMO. If not, I'll admit I'm off on this one. Obviously team's like Michigan, OSU and PSU aren't going to get scheduled for that time slot.

Yeah, that is a big deal to the networks. Those games will still draw between 1-2 million typically. Which is a lot more than what any highlight show or original programming.

lol they can give a quick analysis of what has happened to that point.. no need to move the show back.. they can always return and do a quick edit once the games are done for when it re-airs the next day. You know, like other shows like gameday final.

The Final Drive is a live show.

What you're saying is to just eliminate the show altogether or do the show on Sunday. It would be viewership insanity to air it at 1 am or 2 am (ET).

Since the Big 12 has never had a network, I get where you wouldn't understand the concept.

The Big 10 will still get paid from those 10 pm (ET) starting time games aired on FS1 or CBSSN.

The Big 10's not going to adapt to the failed PAC 12 model. The four PAC 12 teams will have to adapt to the Big 10 model that has proven success. i.e. If they want to be aired on FOX, CBS, NBC, or BTN then they'll start games on the west coast at 3:30 pm (ET) or & pm (ET).

lol.. i would watch gameday final.. but ok, since i never watch the BiG channel.. they should eliminate games in that 10pm window so the millions and millions of BiG fans who tune into BiG final football show (LIVE) can enjoy highlights and analysis and not worry about a live BiG game playing at the same time.

To my knowledge they've never aired a game on BTN that started at 10 pm (ET).

I guess we won't know if they'll change that until 2024. We shall see, but that's typically FS1 level games.

why would they play a late game on the BiG network for? It would be on FS1

That's exactly what I've been saying.

I don't see BTN carrying games that kick-off at 10 pm (ET).
oh i thought you were meaning no games whatsoever.. yeah i don't see why they would put it on there.. FS1 pays more money for that game than the network would..

No.

They'll still air the 12 pm (ET), 3:30 pm (ET), and 7:30 pm (ET) games.

With the addition of 4 more teams maybe FOX will pressure them to add an 11 pm (ET) game to get them all televised in one way or another. We shall see.

Like the farmer said, “Fertilize your best land.”

Colorado vs. Colorado State got 9.3 million viewers. Most watched game this year. The 2019 game drew 1.28 million viewers. For a 10:00 ET start, this is incredible. It's gotta be the most viewed 10:00 ET or after start time in CFB history.

I said Oregon/Colorado might get 10+ last week, hell it might get 12+.

Probably not in the 2nd half.

As far as the BTN stuff goes, I'm sure they can air 10pm games out to FS1, CBSSN for interest...and if the price isn't right keep it on BTN.

So they shorten the amount of plays by 6% but games have only been 2% shorter

We’ve been fucked with less football and more commercials (commercials were already overbearing)

I hope this gets fixed next season. Greedy fucks.

Was 100% predictable that this was going to happen when they announced the new clock rules. It's all about cramming more advertising revenue in, not "making games quicker and more enjoyable"
