2023 Hall of Fame Voting

Again, Jones is unquestionably fatter than Rolen. Rolen was also one of the greatest defensive 3B ever, so I'm not sure why you keep bringing up defense for one and not the other.
Defense in CF is more important than defense at 3B. If Rolen were truly an elite defensive player, he’d have played short stop

And if Jones were truly an elite defensive player, he would have played shortstop.. or catcher.

I think Jones will make it in soon. He's gone from 7.5% in 2019 to 58.1% this year and he still has four years of eligibility. Maybe not in 2024, but I think he will be in by 2025.

Rolen has nothing to do with Whitaker, but they had similar career success. If Whitaker was a Yankee then you'd have some people bitching that he didn't get 100%.

He does this every time the HOF voting comes around. Whitaker should be in, but holding other candidates hostage for someone that's on the Veterans Committee anyway is stupid. The BBWAA voting has very little bearing on Whitaker's HOF hopes going forward. Besides, if we're going to by his rhetoric, Whitaker shouldn't be in before Bonds/Clemens/A-Rod.

I'm so sick of the "X isn't in, so Y doesn't deserve to be in!!!" argument. You either think they should be in or they shouldn't.

If you’re gonna be my third baseman you’d better either:

1. Kill illegal immigrants on your south Texas ranch and knock up Hooters waitresses like Chipper Jones

Or

2. Lead the league in ass like Austin Riley

Lou Whitaker had a career 75.1 WAR (Derek Jeter had a 71.3 WAR) Sweet Lou received 2.9% of the Hall of Fame votes (Jeter 99.7%). No drinking, no PEDs, didn’t argue with the umpires, longest double play combo with Alan Trammell and gentleman with exceptional class. Rolen should have never been a consideration, and Andruw Jones even less, until “Sweet Lou” Whitaker joins Alan Trammell.

But if we use that standard then Whitaker similarly shouldn't even be considered until Bobby Grich gets in. I don't think that Whitaker's or Rolen's candidacy should be held hostage like that.

Because one was THE greatest ever defensively at his position. The other was a fat bum

It's weird that you keep saying this when one was a slightly chubby cf and the other was built like a brick shithouse.

I am a Detroit Tiger fan is why I bring up the injustice about Whitaker. Whitaker was also part of the longest double play combination in MLB history. Whitaker got 2.9% of the vote. A strong case could be made for Grinch who only received 2.6% of the vote. Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and now Alex Rodriguez are the ones being truly ignored. Rolen is not in the same ballpark as those previously mentioned.

*roided bum shithouse
???

Where does this Rolen-hate come from? I understand the hate from Phans (don’t agree with it, but I see the POV), but I am unaware of him traveling to Atlanta and leading a campaign to piss in breakfast bowls across the city.

He turned down a basketball scholarship to UGA to sign with the Phillies. That gets you on a permanent shit list

ARod is a completely different story from B&C. Sheffield can be included in the B&C argument, as can Ortiz. But ARod was caught MULTIPLE TIMES breaking the (at the time) #1 rule in the game. B, C, Shef and Ortiz were never caught breaking an actual baseball rule.
