March Madnes 2024 CBB Selection Show Thread 6pm ET CBS

It's the smart thing to do. Focus 100% of all time and resources on Portal recruiting. The NIT has been a joke for a long time and now under the NIL Portal era, its a complete waste of time.
i really enjoy the idea that the NIT would distract coaches from recruiting in the portal.

it doesn't.

From my perspective they ignored championship week.
chaos of championship week = NC State, UAB, New Mexico and Oregon being bid stealers. its unprecedented for someone from the ACC to be a bid stealer. tbh, it's historic.

your entire first four out would have been in the field if UNC, Florida Atlantic, San Diego State and Arizona had taken care of business.

Sleep on the blazers to your own peril.

You can't ignore the teams who won their tournaments
They treated Auburn like they lost the first round of the tournament and Kentucky like they won it all instead of getting beat down by Miss State.

They actually gave Alabama a better spot than Auburn in the bracket and both are in Spokane. In fact 3 of the 4 Alabama teams are playing in the state of Washington.

Screw the committee.

They do.

Some teams have been moved up 2 seed lines for winning the Big East Tournament.

If Auburn had beaten Tennessee and Kentucky on the way to winning the SEC they would have moved up a spot.

they treated Auburn like a team that only had one Q1 headed into the SEC tournament. and Auburn still finished with less Q1 wins than every other team that was seeded between 1 and 4.

Auburn deserved the seed that they received. and tbh, not sure what the Spokane, WA residents did to piss off the committee. Being invaded by both Alabama and Auburn fans is a fate worse than death. avg body fat percentage has gotta be at least 40%

Arizona was gifted their spot. They basically shit the bed the last quarter of the year and were still given a #2 in the West against an ACC #1 seed.

You sound like a Bammer with the Q1 wins BS. There were teams that counted as Q1 for others that didn't for us due to timing and when you play in the second-best basketball conference in 2024 all that is BS anyway. Auburn earned no lower than a 3 seed and anyone with a brain knows it.

Auburn won all but a few of their games by double digits, only played 3 bad games all year (App State, Florida and KY) and won the conference championship. Hell, both Auburn and Alabama deserve 3 seeds over Kentucky and Tennessee isn't two seeds better than either. Auburn played Tennessee to the wire on their home court if they played in Auburn we probably beat them by double digits.

That's fine though when we went to the final 4 we took out Kansas, Kentucky, and UNC on the way and got screwed against Virginia.

We look forward to busting your bracket.

Your point is an argument for ignorance. Auburn should not be penalized for because Tenn and KY can't get their shit together and should be rewarded for the margin of victory that did happen.

There is no rational argument for a Big East team moving two seed lines and the SEC Champion not only did move up but got slated in what is pretty much that last 4 seed slot. Complete BS.

Q1 wins is a bullshit metric that the NCAA created, retard. nothing Bammer about it. Auburn is a 4 seed and we can only hope you can learn to live with that fact.

You just doubled down on your inner Bammer.

You're still splitting time between things though. What's the point in dedicating time to a completely meaningless tournament? If they'd up the payout for the NIT, maybe it'd be worth it, but as it stands, its just a waste of time. There's no extra player development happening because they played a handful more games or anything. All the teams declining are ahead of the curve. We'll see more of it in the next couple years too if things don't completely blow up with the NCAA

again, participating in the NIT isn't going to prevent any program from pulling a great portal class. and no, nobody is ahead of the curve here. Teams have declined NIT invites dating all the way back to Maryland in 1974.

Pitt and St. John's didn't decline the NIT because of the portal. they declined the NIT because they are throwing a temper tantrum about not being invited to the NCAA Tournament. After the selection show, Pitt posted a tweet that detailed their resume, while Pitino went off about the selection process.
