Nebraska Cornhuskers 2024 Recruiting Thread (Commit list in OP)

Casey Thompson in portal. Damn. Thought he was going to be the starter again in fall

Yea, just saw too. Apparently I had more faith in him then he has in himself to win the starting job.

Wonder why he left? So that leaves Sims as likely starter?
I'm curious if the amount of QB run he was seeing in practice scared him off. With Sims, Haarberg, Purdy, they probably practiced that more this spring since it is more their game. And as I said above, I guess the guy doesn't have enough faith in himself.

I wish him the best.

Not a huge number of offensive linemen in spring ball could be a slighter reason but Simms is this coaching staffs’ chosen man at this point.

noa pola gates is in the portal

Here's his career stats at Nebraska. Remember how excited everyone was when the 4* Gates committed to Nebraska?
That's little if any contribution. Let alone being one of the few 4* players that land in Lincoln.

I'm sure there are plenty of one-on-one discussions going on with coaches and players right now regarding their futures in this program.

Sims was certainly gonna push him.

I guess Thompson didn't see the risk of sitting the bench as being an option in his last season. Tough to get one's draft stock up when riding the pine.

I just love to lack of confidence in his own abilities.

I may be wrong on this but seemed he started games strong, end of 2nd or early 3Q he would fade?

lol Iowa just offered to Stone Saunders

And?

I guess I'm missing the point. So has Nebraska and about 28 others.

Hard to laugh at a team that went (8-5) and won their bowl game 21-0 over the SEC's Kentucky.

Georgia only beat Kentucky 16-6 @ Georgia. Can't say Georgia was looking ahead either since they had GA Tech the following week.

But it's real easy to laugh at a team that went 8-5 and lost to Nebraska.
