2025 Recruiting Thread

I've seen the qualifier "ELITE" on a few commits, what's the story on that? Does that mean they are not just 5-star but the top of the pile 5-star? Or does it mean they are lesser stars but don't want to say "three star"?

Personally, I've generally looked at elite recruits as being in the top 5 at a given position, but perhaps even in the top 10 if a particular position is talent laden in a given year.

I think this one makes sense. He's the #3 TE in the country i'd qualify that as elite relative to position.

It does crack me up though when they throw "Elite" in there and it's some generic mid-low 4* guy

In all honesty -- the only schools hurt by this are the football factory schools who were collecting all the 5 stars to begin with. This will end up bringing parity to CFB, which will only make it even more entertaining
I can't disagree with that. The talent is being distributed wider. Bama had such an unreal unreal run for 10 years until Kirby started poaching from Saban. I was hoping that UGA would have such a 10 year run, but NIL, Transfer Portal, and CFP-12 won't allow that to happen. We will always be top 5, and most importantly be consistent year to year. That is what is important.

Georgia fans are already claiming he's Bear 2.0
Some UGA fans, but not all. You and I know that's not new to losing a recruit. By all accounts, he is a good kid. No one should fault him for taking fuck-you money. It is what it is. He's a kid from a small town in Georgia. Let's see how he does moving 1000 miles away, and I am not wishing him ill luck. I can guarantee you Kirby didn't burn any bridges with him no matter how disappointed I am sure he is.

I'm ecstatic -- IF the rumor is true. I don't have an inside info. There is talks of $200 million put into the new collective they will use in recruiting.

This is the first time UM is dipping their toe in the water like this. I'm actually surprised the administration even gave the go ahead. Maybe they are finally getting the stick out of their ass. Next maybe they will lift the restrictions on the guys from the transfer portal. That'd be nice.

it's just some hurt uga fans.. and I get it.. But from a face value, he isn't anything like Bear.. when Bear was being recruited the summer before his Jr season, all of the insiders were saying he was a huge wildcard because he didn't care if he stayed in state or if he had to go elsewhere.. he was about which school gave him the best resources.

And it played like that over the next year with his recruitment and then we saw what he did after his freshman season at UGA.

And if they are talking about on the field.. well that's just sour grapes

Yeah, I don't see the comparison to Bear, who by the way has be in Athens a lot recently. Everything I've heard is that he isn't wanted, but you never know. Kirby does not burn bridges. But he also won't bring in an attitude issue. Bear would have to be very apologetic before he was allowed back.

Since the ISU/ASU hames sucks, I switched over to watch the Allen vs North Crowley. The just said North Crowley had 9, nine, nueve players sign with D1schools. That’s a bunch to me considering it is a non IMG type school.

On Terry ...

Per all the Insiders at Rivals - these are UGA staff guys - he's been a silent commit for 14 months. UT simply threw too much money at him. Rumored to be $1 million a year.

It's going to be interesting to see a couple things:

1. If the House settlement clearing house concept, designed to get rid of pay for play will actually withstand legal challenge. I am skeptical.

2. Why would any top 10, top 25 player commit and sign before the 3rd day of ESD? Like Terry, you just wait everyone out and wait for one of the Texas schools, or Oregon, or UTjr, Miami, whichever, thrown crazy money at you.

I have some sour grapes, but I understand no one has any sympathy ... we've been playing the recruiting game for a long time and we get better players than most. I just hope we can get the pay for play out of this, compensate them well, but not over the top crazy. For example, Texas could still pay Terry $1 million, but they would have to allocate it from the revenue share which is capped. I have no problem losing a player that way.
I think I heard that a couple (probably a couple of old pillow muffers) anted up $1 million for Texas Tech to land a softball pitcher! So I guess people with money can target it wherever they want to. $ 2 million swimmer anyone?

Lmao. I hope Michigan didn’t give this kid a scholarship thinking it’s some dig at Ohio State. Herbstreit turncoated a long time ago

I love everything about this. TWO homers on Gameday now?

I would be hoping this kid never actually has to play lol.
Maybe, there's a reason they pursued him. A long shot, of course, but a kid that did enough to get a 3 star ranking on all the sites except ESPN (which is ironic lol).

Not a bad kid to pick up to roll the dice TBH.

Also, apparently he's a full scholarship as this is the first year of the 105 scholarship rule taking place. Good for him TBH.
