Not a bad get after missing on Mike ReedLOL ... no, we didn't hire a coach to get Downs. In case you aren't following it:
- Muschamp wanted to step away and retire. His son is at UGA, his other son will be a freshman QB at Vandy. Champ wanted to be able to go to his games on Saturday. We got him to agree to stay on as an analyst with reduced hours, and he can recruit on-campus. So, we needed a secondary coach. T-Rob and Champ go way back ... he was DC at USCjr under Champ and I believe he was at UF with him when he was HC at UF.
- T-Rob is one of the best secondary coaches in the country. That's why he was at Bama. They are about to have two of their secondary go in the first round. Anyone who says he isn't a top assistant doesn't know ball. He also has 5 years as a DC in the SEC.
- T-Rob is one of the best recruiters in the country. If you know anything about UGA, it's that they hire recruiters. He's from South Florida. If you know anything about recruiting, you know having a SFla connection is important.
- Downs is just a bonus.
You'll have to find another reason to rationalize losing Downs, assuming he ends up at UGA.
Kids leaving Bama ain’t the problem. The problem is we are the only school right now whose roster can be raided and we don’t have any options to replace those kids. Should have made these kids wait until after spring. The 30 day window for schools who lose their coach is bullshit.Boo fucking hoo Bama was negative recruiting Larry Johnson's age and saying he was gonna retire like crazy to Eddrick Houston trying to get him to flip and then Saban retires like a month later.
Think that is the only bullshit they pulled with kids? Knowing Saban and his past he was probably telling them all he wasn't going anywhere until the day he did
Arizona and Washington have the same problemKids leaving Bama ain’t the problem. Have 2 windows December and April. If a coach leaves after the December Window then players should have to wait until the after spring Window
But, they aren't Bama, things only matter if it happens to Bama...Arizona and Washington have the same problem
honestly I don't really dwell on it.. either you make plays or don't.. I know for sure that the incoming class will stick for this season. My only questions would be Moore and Niblett.. but Niblett seems bought in all the way. Staff is high on Moore but he's from CA, right? He might be one to leave if he is behind after the springThis is going to be very interesting to see if Sark starts to rotate receivers because there will surely be players leaving after spring game if not. Bond, Golden, Bolden (all transfers in), Cook, Moore, Niblett (all year 2), Wingo, Butler, Dubose, Livingstone (all year 1) - that's 7 guys who are in year 1 or 2, and you're basically telling 5 of the 7 that they aren't going to really get on the field or catch passes this year.
Don't worry UT will get this right and change the ruleWelcome to the SEC, it just means more.
Screw that ... and this isn't an anti-Bama thing ... I get the problem, but the solution isn't to penalize the players. The days of the players getting fucked when coaches leave are over.Kids leaving Bama ain’t the problem. UT won't, but a player will file a lawsuit at some point and that will happen.Don't worry UT will get this right and change the rule

In reality, Saban could have announced his retirement earlier if he hadn't wanted this to happen. Or they can leave the December portal open until mid January. But making players take the hit for coaches leaving is a no-go.
lol imagine if Arch hit the portal and wanted to go to Bama of all places and the SEC says oh no you can't do that because it's april.. U should know better Bama..UT won't, but a player will file a lawsuit at some point and that will happen.
You didn't let him finish, *only the ones at Bama, the only place that experiences this problem.Lol so fuck the kids over and give them no options by making them wait until spring bc a coach lies to them and doesn't leave until after the first portal?
No thanks
Only team with any talent people care enough to bribe into the portalBut, they aren't Bama, things only matter if it happens to Bama...
