A B1G (and CFP) What If...

"BUT DUKE WOULD LOSE TO BAMA AND LSU TOO!!!" :pound:

Like I said earlier, people put way too much stock into schedules, especially when it comes to justifying that "so and so really isnt bad! their schedule is the reason they look bad!"

Hell I'd give Duke a hell of a chance to beat Bama and LSU. If USF can keep it within a TD the whole game so can Duke. Of course if the Duke QB is out that changes things.

If you put a healthy Duke and Tennessee on a neutral field I give Duke great chance to win, he seems to be certain Tennessee would beat them. Tennessee has done nothing to show they are that good at all, Florida embarrassing them shows the opposite.

I'm not buying that LSU is some great team who's just unfortunately ran into a buzzsaw schedule either.

They got destroyed by Florida State and showed their defense is completely awful against against Ole Miss. They also needed a last second FG to beat a well below average Arkansas team at home.

Bama is "down" but they still have enough talent on that roster to skim by most teams.

LOL ... exactly ... this whole thing got started because of a discussion on "Strength of Schedule." I could rewrite your sentence to say people put way too much stock into schedules, especially when it comes to justifying that some like UGA shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt because of their "schedules." Seems you want it both ways.

SOS does not matter when you are a UGA/Bama/Ohio State. Those types of teams are getting picked 100% of the time over some "lower caliber" school if it comes down to it no matter what. See Ohio State getting picked over Baylor/TCU in 2014 for a great example.

These schools are going to get in over about anyone if the choice is between them and another, unless it's a competition between 2 of these types of teams.

It might not be "right" but it's how it is.

Again, what would Duke's record be if they played UNC, Wofford, MissSt, @UGA, and @UTjr?
With a healthy Riley Leonard, I'm saying 4-1, and based on how UGA has looked this year, 5-0 isn't out of the question. Thankfully we'll see Duke play UNC. SCar wasn't even as competitive with UNC as Minnesota was, and Minnesota is horrible.

You could make the same argument though that both teams would have a worse record than Duke if they played Duke's schedule

I don't think Clemson is good at all but I think theyd beat Auburn and South Carolina. neither of them would beat Notre Dame either.

Duke is better than you want to give them credit for, nobody is saying that are a top 10 team or anything, but they are decent.
lol ND is good, but I can see them being beat by Auburn and SCe... why? Cause they haven't shown that they are THAT good either..

tosu played a C plus game, that a really good team should have won by 10 or more.. Day and his turtle playcalling got bailed.
