A Wednesday Thread

That's why we are visiting my parents now before school starts. Once school starts, not sure we'll see them for awhile. And if we do, it'll be their decision to come here knowing the kids are in school.
We landed on homeschooling Ham. Mostly because if the Rona hit her school, how much would we get out of online kindergarten?

It's out of the norm for our district to have that as an in-service day. May be wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Not exactly a normal situation. Not surprised they'd have an early in-service day to assess.

You were talking about hitting some deadline for funding right?

In Indiana, if a student does 50% or more learning online, they get 85% funding.
True I think most have penciled in the worst case scenario for their funding but they aren't hurting for it.

If I'm running errands around Apple Valley I end up having to pay $2-3 more for every thing I buy at the liquor store. Stupid Apple Valley.

There was a time AVL was one of few liquor stores that could be open past 8pm. People would trek from all over metro. I'm sure rule change hurt them a little.

would've been nice if they had a raising canes when I worked there

Apple Valley? Close to Burnsville. Stop at Olivias.

Indiana really doesn't matter as they've done eLearning in our area before COVID hit. Ohio was behind the ball in our area and had to come up with something once COVID hit. It feels like the Indiana schools are going to do everything possible to keep in class learning until they are forced to a hybrid or eLearning environment. Meanwhile, that sentiment isn't really the same for the Ohio schools in this area. Hopefully that is wrong or changes.
Our school district had elearning options before COVID as well. But it's a hell of a lot different to do that with a couple hundred kids than thousands of kids and every teacher. I sure hope parents give teachers and administrators some grace this year. And vice versa.

I can't imagine we don't end up going to elearning however. I spent 30 minutes in the middle school yesterday with maybe 100 students in there and saw at least a handful of the kids wearing their masks on their chins. They got reminded to keep them on, but good luck once classes start and there are hundreds there at a time.

For Kindergarten, my biggest thing was about the socialization. So I'm glad Deuce got a good chunk of the year in. I personally am not equipped to have done an entire year of homeschooling with him not having been in class yet. I feel more prepared this year if it goes that way now that he has a base knowledge of how school is supposed to work. I commend anyone that is able to pull it off. Godspeed.

We had to get some items from town last night and we let Bossy ride with us while we dropped the other 4 at my parents. Bossy doesn't like my parents because they make her mind and tell her like it is. We didn't get to town before she had annoyed us. She can't handle having 1 minute of silence. She is definitely not moving up anytime soon in the rankings.

I don't have much reason to be over in that area. If I'm running errands in/around Apple Valley, it is a way different part of town. Menu looks fine, but if I'm in that area I'm going to Mediterranean Cruise Cafe or El Loro.

Every time I hear stories of people "getting items from town", makes me want to blow my brains out in a gobucksian suburbs kind of way.

Football went pretty good last night. We somehow ended up with the same boys from our baseball team, so we were able to hit the ground running. Glad I have a co-coach this year. He played football, so he has a much better base of knowledge of drills to run. I was always trying to search something out last year when I had to do it alone. It's 7-9 year olds and we have all 7 year olds, so it is possible we could get steamrolled. But I'm excited about the challenge.

You live in the suburbs... You have to go into town to get things

I'm within walking distance of two grocery stores.

And countless eating joints.

And a few gyms.

Even the junior hockey arena.

Plan is to leave tonight for the lake. Won't be able to leave until about 8pm, so that puts us there around 1am. I'll make sure to honk for @Not Duke of Douchington when I pass by West Fargo around midnight.
