I know he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, but I always enjoyed listening to him. I thought he was better than Dickie V
 
I can remember Jim Thacker and Billy Packer doing games in the 1960's on Jefferson Pilot broadcasts. Thacker passed away in 1992 I believe.

I always enjoyed Packer, and yes, he was much, much better than Dickie V.
