I dont buy any realignment rumors until the conference (s) make official statements. If I had a quarter for every time I heard " Texas law makers wont allow A&M to split with Texas" and WVU to the SEC/ACC (just before they took Mizzu in the SEC case) was a "done deal" ect. last round of this stuff I could take early retirement.

This SEEMS to have alot of clout but... it IS the offseason and great lather matirial/click bait for the soon to be here season so.. Though I think it has legs I'll still believe it when I see it and even then I'm not gonna get terribly excited about the SEC being even better right away cause aint nobody goin nowhere til those GOR's are up.

So. If you're Nebraska who gives a shit? We all know what Texas is like to live with. If you don't beat them down once in awhile they're insufferable. But (a) most schools in the Big XII had only one chance to get payouts like they've been getting and that was to kiss Texas @$$ and (b) only a couple of those schools made any attempt to improve their brand so if the day came that Texas (and/or Oklahoma) jumped ship they would be able to survive the fallout. They were like someone pedaling a bicycle downhill and they had convinced themselves they were great athletes. Time to pay the piper. But Nebraska shouldn't waste any time on yelling to anyone who will listen "WE TOLD YOU SO!!!!". Yeah you told them. They didn't listen. Fuck'em. Go get better yourselves. I'm a Huskers fan too and I'm tired of this losing nonsense at Nebraska.

Oh we'll move on happier than a pig in shit.

You can be sure we'll have our tv sets tuned in to some of the great games to be had in the SEC in the years to come. Like I said earlier, the first couple years with TX/OU in the SEC will be like a weekly bowl season for 3 solid months.
We're Husker fans, but we're college football fans above everything else.

And we're in a social media age where everybody's looking for "Hits" and "Followers" on their lame tweeter accounts.

Not immediately but could be long term.

Like every other conference the BIG 12's already got it's Anchor Stores in TX/OU.

Add G5's that are fucking serious about investing in and taking the next step with their football programs.

Expand with a Houston, Memphis, UCF, Cincinnati, UAB?, BYU, or Boise St.
All of which would beat Big 10, PAC, ACC, and even SEC bottom feeders.

Maybe poach an Arizona School or even Notre Dame

The Big 12 was mismanaged from day one. It simply was a house of cards.
If the Big12 could poach maybe.. USC, Oregon ect. from the PAC (imo they need to get better exposure eastward, too many people don't GAF about college football out west) THEN nab a few G5's with real potential then yes but..

And tejas would have to give up their 'dream business model' of being king of all things.

They'll be giving it up on a move to the SEC anyway.

As one tejas fan pointed out... Moving to the SEC could be the best thing to happen to the horns since "They'll finally be able to focus on sports" instead of focusing on manipulating everything Big 12 to their benefit.

Then again there's another tejas fan already talking about permanently moving the SEC CCG from Atlanta to Jerry World in Arlington, establishing SEC offices in TX, etc..

In the SEC they will most def be falling in line, and I think A&M will enjoy that as well.
To their credit though imo they have been trending in a better direction since the DelConte hire BUT in an inferior conference the recruiting is only gonna be so good and it doesn't matter who ya are if the recruiting isn't strong you'll never be what you potentially could be.

It doesn't matter
The Big XII payout will never keep up/

It could if there were structural changes made.

1) Texas stops underachieving.
2) Texas gives up the LHN
3) Expansion to 14 teams
4) A Conference Network
5) Equal share media rights contracts with FOX/ESPN
Being blueblood anchor stores, if tejas had any business acumen what-so-ever... They and Oklahoma could right the Big 12 ship instead of stranding their fellow members and running to the SEC. Just admit the 'tejas dream business model' was a complete failure for the conference, swallow your pride, and fix what's broken. You'd have 4 years to get something impressive enough to sell in the next media rights negotiation (2025). Negotiate with ESPN (tomorrow morning) a 1 or 2 year transition from LHN to a Big 12 Network for all.

Here's 7 to choose from that appear serious about joining the big boy stage. i.e. over a decade of success at their level.
I'm actually surprised Memphis and Cincinnati aren't in there.
Memphis would be if last 8 years. (65-26) (71.4%)
Cincy would be if last 3 years under Luke Fickell. (31-6) (83%)
Appy St, Cincy, and Toledo would even give WVU Division neighbors.
UCF a Florida footprint.
I'd toss San Diego St out as being too far away.

For the record... Nebraska is 47th and tejas is 57th

This thing is already done. Texas jumped out in front of this knowing the amount of backlash it was going to recieve. The school president, State Gov already laid the path to ensure pissed off politicians (alumnus) of other state schools couldn't road block this.

Red, sorry man but even if UT and ou stayed and they expanded and grabbed Cincy, Memphis, Houston, UCF or whomever else that is in the G5.. this would have failed in another 7-10 years regardless.

As much hate as UT/ou are getting, they deserve some credit for keeping the Big12 together an additional 10 years with the schools making MUCH more money than the market dictated. They were getting paid for 12 schools despite only having 10 members. Their tier 1 and tier 2 deals alone were worth more than the ACC and PACs full media deals.

Baylor put a shit ton of money into upgrading it's facilities, coaching hires, and coverups. OSU also has upgraded it's facilities..(big thanks to Boone too). These things do not go unnoticed and make them attractive for possible moves to another P4 conference. Funny part is that KU had literally done NOTHING to improve it's football program since the last round of realignment. Yet are most likely to get rewarded anyways because of their bball program that has been fighting the NCAA for a minute now.

I've seen estimates that all payouts combined for Texas and Oklahoma if they come to the SEC would be $60-$80 million per season. If that's the case the other Big 12 schools are gonna have to give up even more to make a competitive offer. Before they do that I'd guess more of them will try to find other homes and by so doing further weaken the Big 12 position.

TCU was a G5 and won the Big 12.

Ha.

BTW, I'm still not convinced this is going down.

It's just that 'always be suspicious of tejas' thing. They like the 'fingers crossed behind their backs', 'watch the birdie thing'.
They did it in 2010 with the PAC and it cost them Colorado and Nebraska. Mizzou and A&M were soon to follow.

Add to that current social media platforms that start rumor for click-bait and followers, it's a recipe for what we're seeing now.

Dear SEC.

I would imagine that Texas will soon take credit for saving your conference from becoming irrelevant in the college football world.

thoughts and prayers.

*Tied despite losing head to head with the other school.. thanks Big12 leadership lol*

But you are right TCU can be the anchor in the south Div while ISU can be the anchor of the North DIv.. I bet they will only see a slight decrease of money lol

It's done man.. even the aggy minister of information has comeout and said.. it's done.. which is why the new PR angle is we are ready, we have a 10 year head start, etc.

Completely sold it happens as quickly as what the rumors suggest? Not entirely. But with the massive shifts that are happening in college football, its going to happen.

Texas can say whatever. They need the SEC more than the SEC needs them

No.. we will take credit for taking this conference to the next level.. #HookEm

seems the SEC needed them enough to keep it away from one of their "every voice matters" schools
