ATM's next 7 games ... can Dumbo survive?

From A&M board, damn

4 players suspended for the remainder of the season:

Freshman offensive tackle PJ Williams
Freshman cornerback Denver Harris (second suspension)
Freshman wide receiver Chris Marshall (second suspension)
Freshman running back LJ Johnson

I'd expect to see some portal entries this week. This year is going to mimic 2015 when A&M lost two 5* QB's (one of which ended up winning th Heisman). Back in 2015 this is what was said about why they chose to leave:

Uncertainty with the direction of Texas A&M's offense, the future of the offensive coaching staff, trust issues between the quarterbacks and coaches and how the quarterbacks were utilized were among the concerns that led to both Murray's and Allen's transfers, sources indicated to ESPN.com.

I can re-write that for 2022:

Uncertainty with the direction of Texas A&M's offense, the future of the offensive coaching staff, trust issues between the *players* and coaches and how the *players* are utilized are the concerns that *players are considering when thinking about* transfering, dyezak specuates.
Wait why are they talking about Murray and Allen for? For all the shit Jimbo is getting right now (rightfully or wrongfully) he didn't play favorites the way Sumlin did in that situation. Jimbo tried rolling with King and had to make a change to Max who got hurt. He's trying to protect his 5 star true freshman QB in Weigman.. which sounds like he might be starting this week because King got hurt again.

Now the stuff about uncertainty along the OC side of the ball is correct. He literally has a WR bagman (Craig) now coaching the QBs. He just shuffled the same coaches to new positions on that side of the ball. Addazio has been a bad OL coach but they also haven't been hitting on the OL they recruited. But it's still his head because the promising true freshmen returning have looked horrible this season so far.

Defensively they are getting better for the most part. Harris has been an headcase which is their own fault because if you followed recruiting, HE NEVER wanted to go there. Him and his family were offered a deal they couldn't turn down. I personally think he's just acting out of frustration or just a temper tantrum. He wants out and now he has that out.. they won't let him return.

Obviously things are turning upside down and as a Horn fan I'm glad to see it, HOWEVER I also know too well that this most likely isn't as bad as it seems

Talent can cover up a lot of crappy coaching…but not all of it! Think how bad they’d be if they had talent that wasn’t top shelf.

i would get that if more jr or sr players were the ones speaking out or getting suspended.. this is pretty much all the new class. Don't think a lot of them are the difference makers as of now. Dewberry is getting a lot of run on the OL because of injuries.. but he's not dominating or anything like that.

I am going to go with "it's worse than it seems." You don't go from possible CFP to being 3-4 with a couple more likely losses coming your way, with many players being suspended, with a 30 million dollar freshman class, all in a coaches 5th year unless there is some bad shit going on. And that type of thing doesn't typically just right itself.

I personally have no gripe with ATM. I was glad they joined the SEC. Their nut job yell leaders aside, I think it's a pretty cool place for CFB. But their arrogance with NIL last year is going to bite them in the ass and I am here for the party.

I bet Holgerson gets a lot of these transfer to come to Houston.

I know we were the no. 2 option for several of them, especially the DL guys. They will be vetted carefully as our freshman class at DL is damn good in its own right - 1 guy is starting and 2 others are already contributing a lot. We do rotate the front 7 in a crazy way, so that's not that surprising, but they have shown their rankings were justified.

I think this ^, for a lot of CFB fans. Jimbo just comes off as a giant douche. I mean, to the point of people taking SABAN's side over Jimbo's, that's next level

Yeah we finished 2nd for Dindy and Overton. We need Dline help!

Yeah, what the Texas fan said.^

Perennial 8-4/9-3 teams don’t just magically become CFP contenders “cuz recruiting” or “cuz money”. Overhyping teams for either or both of those reasons is what incredibly stupid people do.

Aggies were never sniffing the CFP.

Yep.

Texas A&M loses 4+ games more often than not (they've only not lost 4+ games twice in 10 full seasons since joining the SEC), yet it seems like every preseason they get built up to be some kind of contender.

It's really a joke.

Meh. You ain't seen nuffins 'til the donghorns join the SEC.

Lol it still cracks me up how Texas A&M, a historically average middle of the pack Big 12 team, joined the SEC and almost immediately started getting unwarranted hype almost every season.

lol it's because we are TEXAS.. it's like the cowboys.. whether you like it or not we always get gassed up every season. Look at all the crap we are getting.. and we weren't even ranked in the pre season top 25.. but expectations...
